CTU (also known as Counter Terrorism Unit) was established by Jray a former member of the Sith Dominion in the later year of 2005 as a defender region under the direction of the regions earliest members Greater Bulgaria, Kammbodia II, The Orange Man, Prussian Lords, and Lemmings Cliff Divers. Although the region's known life-time membership has remand relatively small, it has stood out as a major defender organization that has played key political and military roles in changing the balance of power for invaders and defenders alike throughout NationStates. CTU has also prided itself in taking in many talented individuals throughout NationStates ranging from freelance intelligence operatives to former mercenaries.

History of CTU

The region of CTU started out as a place where 24 enthusiasts could reside and talk among other fans of the show. However, with the growing prominence of invader regions fighting over specific turf CTU became a more defender-like region due to the constant threat of region greifing or crashing. It is unclear if the founder Jray intended from the beginning to make CTU a defender region but when asked why he simply stated "I didn't want to play the bad guy anymore" referring to his years previously serving in the Sith Dominion as an invader. As time would pass the region would conduct a number of recuse operations protecting smaller regions from larger invader groups and in turn remain and help the founder password protect the region from future invasions or re-establish the region. CTU would later on play a more covert role in liberation ops usually acting as an ally to a larger defender organization or a defender coalition. CTU itself, unlike its predecessors would purposely continue to remain a small region to ensure better security for the region itself and conduct counter-raid operations more effectively.

Major Campaigns/ Operations

The Seven Fortress Worlds

On June 2006 after receiving a distress call from the Seven Fortress Worlds of an invasion from The Legendary Rodent Aliance and Wolfland CTU under the direction of Jray launched an attack to retake the region from TLRA and Wolfland that would last for six days. With the counter attack set at nightfall the TLRA and Wolfland occupiers were taken completely by surprise allowing CTU to quickly eject most of the invaders before they could initiate a counter offensive. Later attempts by TLRA and Wolfland to retake the Seven Fortress Worlds however would fail. Though with the occupiers gone CTU was mistaken as being an invading ally to Wolfland despite the proof presented to the natives that CTU was in fact a defender. With a settlement made between Jray and the regions inhabitants CTU pulled out of the Seven Fortress Worlds later that week, however they would recruit a new member of CTU by the name of Stratfor who was operating as a nomadic defender informant in the region at the time. Stratfor would later become CTU's first Head of Intelligence.

The New Folsom Incident

By late July of 2006 CTU had been operating mostly on its own without any official allies. That would all change however as CTU began to befriend the region New Folsom. After seeing the nation Akilopolis 2 fake a nation hijacking in the Airbone Defence Empire (or ADE as it is commonly referred to as) casing significant chaos throughout region Stratfor along with Jray and Greater Bulgaria contacted Akilopolis 2 in the efforts of recruiting him to CTU. However with New Folsom's open anti-ADE stance it unwantly put CTU in a major bind with ADE officials who insisted on having CTU co-operate in bringing in Akilopolis 2 for further questioning. As tensions grew between ADE and CTU things would finally boil over when Stratfor began to pick fights with ADE's Delegate Arkaria. RED Seven an ex-mercenary and a new recruit to CTU at the time strived to ensure the two regions did not get into open war amongst each other. However, it would all be in vain when ADE's special forces leader SCOTSBRUNWICK launched a premature strike on CTU via the region ARCADIA 400. During the battle for CTU RED Seven secretly appealed to Arkaria to withdraw the attack, which was complied. Jray taking effective command of the situation negotiated a truce with ADE with help of RED Seven who role-played ambassador to CTU. It would later be revealed that Stratfor was encouraged by New Folsom to purposely provoked ADE into a war with CTU for the purpose of settling a vendetta against ADE for attacking his home region the Atlantic. However, sources disclosing information through ADE, Jray and RED Seven proved the Atlantic attack was in fact False Flag mission instigated by the Azear Combine during the ADE/AC wars of early 2006. Stratfor rattled by the outcome returned to CTU after in temporary seclusion as CTU's Head of Intelligence. Stratfor and RED Seven would later take part in shadow operations against New Folsom and support the Anti New Folsom League indirectly to ensure its survival ergo proxy.

Allah Empire/ Blade Wars

In September of 2006, CTU received another distress signal from Allah Empire who was being invaded by The Great British Empire (TGBE), a colony of the Blades of Conquest (BoC) under the direction of Sardina9, who had been dispatched to put down an uprising in the area. CTU, with the help of the Federal District Forces, swept in to endorse the native Delegate trying to maintain control over Allah Empire. The Blades of Conquest founder, Vengence Seeker, noticing CTU's advance, ordered a larger troop deployment into Allah Empire to ensure BoC's control of the region. CTU, overpowered by BoC's large numbers, was ejected while the Federal District was cut off and left at the mercy of Vengence Seeker. It would later be considered CTU's greatest defeat but Jray was undeterred. CTU called upon their ally, the ADE, to help retake Allah Empire and ensure its return to the original founder. However, Vengence Seeker, anticipating this move, summoned Halcones The Blacks Hawks shadow operations unit leader and intelligence officer to the Phantom Brigade to lead a series of invasions against the Federal District capital region with the help of the DEN and The Children of the Grave. With the Federal District annihilated by Halcones' military storm troopers and ADE facing pressure from BoC as well, CTU stood alone among a horde of enemies. RED Seven, in response, launched a series of attacks on TGBE region with the aid of Stratfor, ultimately causing a fractioning in the BoC colonies as well as instigating small pockets of resistance within the BoC occupied areas of the Federal District. With BoC distracted and spread thin, Jray made one last attempt to retake Allah Empire and hold it until the original founder returned leaving command to Orange Man. After a week of bitter fighting, Halcones and Sardina9 with a coalition of five other invader groups pushed through Allah Empire and ejected CTU from the region. BoC believing victory had been achieved was caught by surprised when Allah Empire's founder The Sharia State of Allah Empire suddenly returned and kicked out Sardina9 and Vengence Seekers' forces single handedly with the help of Desert Sandz and Jray. Stratfor would later recall Vengence Seeker as being a "formidable and intelligence opponent, he is certainly worth my respect".

The Halcones Conspiracy

With CTU shell shocked from the battle with BoC Jray was looking for a new plan to help trump BoC and the Black Hawks. This help would come rather mysteriously from an old NS user by the name of Zarvon who approached Stratfor with an offer to help CTU bring down BoC through his organization known as GDIS (Global Defence Intelligence Summit). Zarvon whom seemed to have major connections within the ranks of BoC and the Black Hawks was cautiously welcomed by CTU to help in the erosion of BoC and the Black Hawks which ultimatly suceeded. However, RED Seven growing suspicious of Zarvons intentions infiltrated many of the invader forums to find his true identity. RED Seven discovered that Zarvon was in fact Halcones whom was attemptng to manipulate both CTU and BoC as well as the Black Hawks once again into war amungst each other for his own personal gain. Stratfor after being warned by RED Seven went to the Black Hawks forum and posted Halcones betrayl to both sides. Unknown to Stratfor at the time Halcones was already under investigation by Red Back for the same reason. Jray along with Stratfor's contacts spread the word of Halcones' plan even Vengence Seeker a long rival to CTU even enlisted his help to exposing Halcones which ultimatly caused the Black Hawks core leadership to fall apart. Stratfor would later testify in Raiders Court using files from GDIS and conversations with Zarvon to further incriminate Halcones and the Black Hawks Head of Intelligence Lisvania. It would later be revealed that Halcones was also Sardina9 during the Blade Wars against CTU as well. To this day it is ultimatly unclear what Halcones true plans were for manipulating both sides into another war or if RED Seven and Stratfor even played a vital role in GDIS's activities while it was under the leadership of Zarvon/Halcones.

CTU Under Fire

CTU under a number of occasions would be accused of being an invader region rather than a defender region due to Jray's Sith ties however this has been proven false. RED Seven would recount these acusations later stating "They're just mad because we protect the valnerable targets".

CTU would also be under the scrutiny of Corporate Conservative and the Black Hawks Head of Intelligence for possible ties to the Azear Combine.

CTU Today

Jray would later retire after the events of the Halcones Conspiracy allowing Stratfor to Suceed him as Head of CTU while Nephihah would take Stratfor's place as CTU's Head of Intelligence.
