Formation of the Dor Lomin Regional Alliance

History

Following the devastating Federation-Manilowian War, D'ron Smith, Field Marshal (Ret.) of the Federation, decided that he wanted no more wars to wrack his region, and set out, traveling around to different nations in the region and promoting peace. By the time he became Imperial President, he was dead set on stabilizing the region to prevent more wars.

During his travels, he had made friends among some of the other national leaders of Dor Lomin, especially Empress Collins of Peitha and Johnathan Currey of Vanderhill. When he made the move as his first foreign policy element as President, they backed him with the other nations. Eventually, and with the pressure of Lord Melkor's invasion of All Elves, the Alliance passed and became law in whatever governments controlled each nation.

Principles of the Alliance

Internal Cooperation

While not necessaily free trade, the Internal Cooperation Clauses promoted both technological exchange and trade, as well as establishing international ties and economic cooperation. Also, it required extradition and led to the creation of an international security forces.

Defensive Alliance and Military Cooperation

The primary purpose of the Alliance, though, was military in nature. It forced the creation of Dor Lomin Combined Military, joining all the national militaries under a centralized command and control. This Combined Military first saw service during the final days of Lord Melkor's invasion of All Elves, getting itself badly beaten by the Ardan forces due to inadequate training and rushed organization, as well as poor intelligence.

International Solidarity

The last principle of the Alliance was to stand firm in the international arena. As such, it promoted tolerance and understanding, as well as national sovereignty and personal determination.

Fall of the Dor Lomin Regional Alliance

Relevant Thread

Basically, the DLRA was betrayed from the inside. Hamid Popil, leader of the nation of Palpastine, planned and executed the Fall by exploiting his position and power, as well as the resources of the Combined Military. More than a billion civilians died in massive nuclear attacks on Area Fifty-One, Why War, One without Self, and Enyalius, and nuclear suicide charges in Palpastine.

The situation was ended with the the invasion of Palpastine, the destruction of the Alliance, the death of Popil, and the formation of the Federation of Sentient Peoples.
