Erikandia - A Caring Military Dictatorship
Erikandia rose from the ashes of the weak and decadent Nozwaiy, a better forgotten nation which sunk into ruins after the Hordapolis defection. Scattered into pieces and ruled by greedy politicians, the people swore that two mistakes should never be made again: 1) They would stay un-scattered this time, and 2) There would be no more greedy politicians. The current ruler is Generalissimo Erico Grande, founder of the country, father of the people and author of the afore mentioned oath. Erikandia is a democracy on his direct orders, and will remain so untill further notice. For your convinience, you will vote when asked. The governing body are The National High Command, usually called HC.
The Armed Forces
This is the heartblood of the nation, it's pride and it's glory. As long as the Army is strong and led by a competent leader, the nation will survive. Erico Grande is the definition of "a competent leader", and the expression "Strong as the Erikandian Army" is a word-of-mouth in Hyper Nordica.
The armed forces has controll over all important functions. The head of the education services are the General Rector, health are lead by the General Surgeon, and the courts are led by the Court Marshal. There are no sivil police force-the nation recognice that the military should deal with the enemies of the state. MP's are therefore executing police functions-along with everybody who do not agree with this policy. Erikandia has no outdated prison facileties. Wrongdoers are given the choice between execution or to serve in the armed forces for 5-20 years. It should come as no suprise that Erikandia got the most nervous armed forces in the world-a shaking finger on the red button, so to speak.
Erikandia does not have nuclear weapons. Off course not! Only psychotic violent barbarians got nuclear weapons. We've got "a device".
Erikandia is espesially well known for it's Militaru Special Units. Even if The Armed Forces got Spec. Ops within every military field, the Erikandian Navy P.L.A.T.Y.P.U.S.S. (Paradropped Land and Air Tactical Yber Payload Unconventional Seaworthy Sappers) are espesially feared. The Erikandian Navy P.L.A.T.Y.P.U.S.S. has been listed as #4 in "Jane's top 20 psychotic killers in the world". Since then, they have improved mightily. Oppose them at great peril.
Culture
Generalissimo Grande has recognised the fact that a people without it's own culture has shot it's bolt. The building of an Erikandian National Culture has therefore gotten a high priority in the Nation. The Antonia Library, named after The First Lady, are the hub of Erikandian cultural life. The First Lady also acts as the Commander of the Cultural Stormtroopers, and has taken a personal interest in the reading habits of the people.
Places of Interest
A lot of places fall into this category. Viewing most of them will get you shot faster that a french hussy can say "supercool". Tourism are not really encouraged, though HC has taken the concept of "Foreign Legion" under discussion.
