Head of state is the monarch entitled 'King of Erlangen-Ansbach'. He/she is authorized to sign international treaties and to represent the state on behalf of the people. This is a title and office which is inherited by the oldest son/daughter of the reigning sovereign. As soon as the oldest child gets 14 year old, he/she recieves the official title of the crown prince/ -ess: Herzog/in (Duke/Duchess) von Grossgründlach. Furthermore, the sovereign names/dismisses the ministers upon advice of the Prime Minister. The monarch is the supreme commander of the Royal Armed Forces by law. Besides the sovereign has to sign the issues enacted by the legislature. The Erlangen-Ansbacher parliament is the Reichstag, which is elected every five years. The Reichstag is in charge of the legislature. Itself can propose bills by 1/3 of the votes by the all MPs. The Reichstag has to vote with absolute majority about peace and war declarations. The Reichstag elects the Prime Minister ("Ministerpräsident") who is head of government, maintains the right to set the guide lines for the governmental work ("Richtlinienkompetenz") and acts as the chief spokesman of the state on international summits. The Königliche Landesverfassungsgericht (LVG) is the supreme court of the United Kingdom of Erlangen-Ansbach. The LVG justices are appointed by the sovereign in accordance with the Prime Minister, but their appointement must be confirmed by the Reichstag. The Ministry of Justice and/or the duchies' Vice-Exarchs' of Justice are authorised to appoint the judges of the courts they are in charge of. The jurisdiction acts independent from the legislature, executive and the sovereign.

The Herzogtümer are governed by a county government, which is leaded by an Exarch, who is elected by the Herzoglicher Rat (ducal council). The county government has only few public affaires about it can decide. There are elections every five years.
