Transportation
To accomodate for the massive size of these structures and of the city itself there are three main roadways, each four lanes each way. The first roadway is on ground level, this is used for the transportation of bulk goods, supplies to buildings and what not. The second layer is at the tenth floor, or approxemetly 125 feet in the air, this is used emergency pourposes only, whether it be for emergency vehicles, the military or even if there needs to be extra roadway for an evacuation, which proved flawless in the recent coup d'etat, as troops entered the city they poured out and only fifty people died. And the last and top level is at the fifteenth floor of approxemetly 65 feet above the second level, this is the main traffic level, this is where regular comuters drive and this is where the main lobbies are in all buildings. Now each level is inter accesable from each other via spiral roadways in each building. Then they also go down two floors below the ground so that one may access the subway, train, and the highway. The subway just services the city but the trains go out side city limits and then surface to travel accross the whole of Riegab, the highways work the same way you enter underground and then surface. And even below that is all utilites. To solve problems like fighteing fires on top floors we have three airports in the city that are actully built on top of buildings, there they have not only commercial travel but fire fighting helicopters. Citizens are also encouraged to own their own helicopter so that they may transit easier between buildings, all with their own helicopter pads and hangars. Also many of the buildings are interlaced through a skybridge system.
Building Construction
Because of the constraints of such a cramped quarters Smith & Deiters has invented an apparatus that, like an animal, climbs the exterior of a structure and not only build by moving up and placing pices in place but go up a current one and repair damaged structure. They are also developing a method to remove the roofs of buildings so that they may add on as apposed to destroying the building first, this is currently being tested farther away from downtown so that we can increase the heighths of older buildings.
