Ev’lyn I of Rastaban was the only legitimate daughter of King Andros and Queen Elspeth I. She had three illegitimate siblings from Andros. Ev’lyn instituted the law now known as the Family Name Law as a way to get revenge on her father.

Already in existence was the law that the woman’s last name would be passed on to her children, not the father’s. Ev’lyn took this one step further, because the previous law exempt queen’s husband, traditionally the king, from taking his wife’s name and their children baring her name. The Family Name Law stated that all men will take their wife’s names as theirs upon married, and their children shall bare their wife’s name. If a man were to marry the Queen of Rastaban, however, he could keep his family name or take Rastaban as his. The children of the queen, however, will take Rastaban as their last name. Also, the queen’s heir would have to bare Rastaban as her name. If the female heir is not one of the queen’s daughters she shall take Rastaban as her name upon being crowned.

The only person this made angry was King Andros Marwin, the “King Father” as he was called after Queen Elspeth death. For he had wish to arrange a marriage between his daughter Queen Ev’lyn and a cousin of his, in hopes that the Marwin’s would become rulers of Rastaban. Thankfully this didn’t happen.

Ev’lyn married Sir Renald Kurtsevol of Lersia. Shortly after marrying Sir Renald Ev’lyn provided passage and money for her illegitimate siblings. Andros-lith Matherson (b.827-d.874) was the eldest of the bastard children, his mother being Kristien Matherson (b.806-d.837). Tally-Marwin (b.834-d.875) and Sally-Marwin Mi’ros (b.834-d.867) were the twin daughters of Tol-zana Mi’ros (b.820-d.850). The girls were sent to a private school for young ladies in Lersia and Andros-lith was sent to a military academy. Later in life Sally and Andros-lith met, unaware of their heritage. They were married in 845. It is not known if they had children. It is known that Tally never married or had children.

Ev’lyn and Renald were deeply in love and had five children, two girls and three boys. Her eldest daughter, Cambra was her mother’s heir.
