History

60156033.jpg The Free Land of Frustrated Franciscans is a recently created nation, founded by Franciscans who were frustrated by the involvement of Tzorsland in the United Nations. Ironically it was the Franciscans who first invaded the divided kingdoms of Tzor and established their Holy Republic of Tzorsland centuries ago. While technically a theocracy with the Catholic Church under the various Franciscan Orders, the government has allowed smaller communities to become independent in the same manner that Frustrated Franciscans became independent of Tzorsland.

Government

The Franciscan Congress

The government of the Free Land of Frustrated Franciscans is based loosely around Franciscan principles. The Franciscan Congress is composed of lay men and women who are selected by their communities to make important decisions on the law of the land. When the congress is in session, the members of the congress are cloistered in the Congressional Complex so they can concentrate on the important work they are required to perform. The original Franciscan Congress met in a cloistered building with 50 cells each 5 feet wide by 10 feet long. Two communal restrooms and bathrooms were also provided. Separate buildings houses the dining facilities and the cathedral.

Franciscan Economy – Or the lack thereof

236504147.jpg Under the leadership of the Franciscan Congress, the economy of Frustrated Franciscans took a nose dive. Successive legislative initiatives have resulted in a tax rate of 100%. Capitalism was abolished, but has been allowed in some minor circumstances. The result was that over one fourth of the population is unemployed, the exchange rate is pathetic (R$256.6062 = $1) and the GDP per capita is so far below the poverty line as to be criminal (R$61.35 = $0.239).

The approval of the Franciscan Congress to allow natives to set up gambling operations in exchange for receiving a percentage of profits in taxes resulted in a moderate exchange rate (R$5.9818 = $1) and a GDP per capita that is well above pathetic (R$2,822.67 = $471.876).

The current exchange rate is (R$4.6040 = $1) and GDP per capita is (R$3,811.91 = $827.596).
