The Confederate States of Chirelstein was formed in October, 2004. Government was founded following a bitter Revolutionary War against the motherland fought by the colonial peoples because of their overwhelming desire for a capitalist economy and political freedom. In November, 2004, the leader of the revolution, the eminent Sir J. Gagnon IV, was elected as the first President of the new nation. Within a few weeks the House of Representatives voted unanimously to change the nation's name to The Republic of Gagnon in honor of their fearless leader.
The infant nation's capital was formed in Tulania, which has since grown into a bustling metropolis known world-wide as the home of powerhouse multi-national corporations.
The Republic of Gagnon has devoted itself to the spread of a free-market econoomy around the globe. The current President is Sir J. Gagnon IV, the nation's founding father.
