Brief History

Before Emory and Gaypride there was a Delegate called The Rose Resistance who gained the Delegacy a few days after moving into the region after Gaypride resigned from the U.N. He reigned the region for a few months before announcing that he was straight and that he felt it was unfair for him to lead the region so he resigned the Delegacy and moved to The Heartland where he is now.

Noteworthy nations

• One of the newest nations in the region, The Queendom of Fabulousa is a tiny progressive tourist paradise a little off the map. A majority of Fabulousa's small population of gay men, lesbian ministers, bisexual administrators and straight ally best buds live in the nation's four major cities, with a small percentage being spread between the little towns, villages and countryside dotting the scenic nation. The Queen Smokey Winchester has made tourism the top priority for the new year.

• The nation of Omni-Palonie is currently in turmoil as a coup is being lead by the vice president. THis is not the first civil war in the region, the last being held when the sub-regions literally went up in arms over where the nation's annual pride should be held, which now in compromise moves between the capital Omni-Palonie City, and the three regional subcapitals Homo-, Bio- and Lesbo-City.

• The Confederacy of Emory - Our previous UN delegate till November 2005, Emory was a major role in the stabilisation of the region and continued to rule over a long and fruitful period of Gay's history. Has now stepped down to follow other pursuits but keeps a seat on regional council.

• The Suburban Jesus of Merric is a viziership, who doubles as our forum admin and regional secretary, and spends a lot of time frowning at reports of unrest in the more unruly nations of Gay.

• The Holy Diamond Bipolysultanate of Aleenia - one of the latest additions to our regional council this theocratic nation is ruled with a loving iron fist by their own goddess Lady Aleena.

• The Draconic Empire of Cromotar that provides much needed non-anthropomorphic views as a regional council member. We don't know much else as our explorers are too scared to visit.

• The nation of the Gay Street Militia is also a growing nation where dissidents and activists who have thrown off the yoke of opression of their homophobic motherlands come to live. In this military-industrial complex of a nation they get trained to become elite fighters to defend their Spartan paradise.

• The Tragic Kingdom of Gwenstefani - our resident regional cartographer and diva. Has a checkered international reputation owing to their nuclear arms build-up, huge army, occupation of a neigbouring country without regional permission (later rescinded) but on the other hand they play a large role in regional security and have garnered Gay with its only UN resolution written by a member - well done Gwenstefani!

• Also in the ranking of oldest nation is the nation of Haldana, who is also in the 6 billion mark along with Ninjasama. Geographically the northern part of the west coast of Gay is the most densely populated. Theories abound on how the people manage to live in such tightly packed conditions, with rumours of underground cities and skyscrapers supported by floatstone.

• The nation of New Gayland (whose coming to the region caused many problems†). New Gayland is also a long time member of Gay and is the major host of our radio programme "So what does this UN resolution mean...".

• The Secret Purple Order of Ninjasama - One of our oldest and most highly populated members Ninjasama is our only nation with two disconnected sub-territories which are largely serviced by sea and long train journeys through savage wilderness. Ninjasama is also a long running coucil member.

• The Floating Cities of Thermidore is the current ambassador to Nasicournia as well as a regional council member. Its floating cities are literally supported by the mineral "floatstone" which is extensively mined in the majestic mountains of Gay.

• The Open-Source Republic of Torvaldia - A very turbulent region made up of Humans and sentient AIs, it was recently hit by the assassination of its charismatic PCS in a terrorist plot possibly led by the region's most wanted criminal "Sappho Dianic". Ironically the two had a biological child Caleb who is currently location unknown. The unrest and reports of further eco-terrorism have served to allow the right-wing "Peace through Preparedness" party to sieze power in the latest election. Torvaldia was a major player in the alliance to force back the carnivorous bush invasion by developing an opalescent goo that neutralised the plants.

• Triangularia is a large well-off civilisation noted for its participation in the recent carnivorous bush invasion by lending out its national animal, the herbivorous "Udays" which are large crab/lobsters the size of a small truck, that helped weaken the shrubs and drive them back to ward the sea. Being located in the Majestic mountains it is also one of the major suppliers of ores and floatstone to the rest of the region.

• The Sultanate of Citta Nuova is a young nation, settled by the refugees of Sodom and Gomorrah. It consists of one great city and is ruled by the mostly benevolent Sultan OJ. Even though personal freedom are held in high regard, religions have been outlawed and severe punishment is waiting for anyone who is caught practicing religion.

• The Imperium of Jaffa Gays first made regional headlines after the tragic death of Drag Queen Sue Nami in a terrorist bombing during one of her diplomatic visits to Gwenstefani. Krystal Meth has since taken over.

† It literally involved the importation of the floating mountains upon which this nation resides, which due to their radioactive undersides, caused a mutation in the local flora to create the carnivorous shrub plague that swept through Southern gay, before being mostly neutralised by allied forces (including Meadsville, Merric, Triangularia, Buffsylvania (a deceased deceased nation**) Torvaldia and Thermidore), however there remains clones of the shrubs in dangerous enemy hands)
