History
In the mid 1800s, Giotizia was taken into the Kedalfaxian Empire. When it fell to communism in 1930, the people of Giotizia were afraid that they would become communist too. So they closed down all connections to the outside world for five years. By this time, Kedalfax had decided not to worry about retaking Giotizia, due to the immence distance between the two. In 1934, the five year closed boarder policy was set to expire. But the closed boarders had helped isolate Giotizia from the Great Depression. So Giotizia decided to have limited access across its boarders. This continued until 1944, when the boarders were reopened again. The nation rode the new economic boom from the rest of the world.
In 1967, the hippie movement was at its peak. The area of () in () became central to the hippie movement in Giotizia. The "Summer of Love" also saw the legalization of marajuana and LSD in Giotizia. The economy continued to soar, until 1972.
In 1972, a lack of oil hit Giotizia's economy hard. The Jedu Motor company, the largest company in the nation, had been making ineficient vehicles, and now the soaring prices of fuel sent them almost into bankrupcy.
The economy continued suffering until the early '80s, when the emergence of technological media gave the economy a huge boost. Then, for an unknown reason that still confuses the best economists to this day, the economy collapsed again.
On November 27, 1992, the President of Giotizia agreed to the proposal by the new Federation of Kedalfax to become part of the new Kedalfaxian Commonwealth.
In 1994, the drug laws were tightened after the Kedalfaxian Government pressured the Commonwealth Legislation to enact stricter Commonwealth-wide drug laws. LSD was illegalised, and the minimum age at which a person could possess or smoke marijuana was raised to 18. More information on the drug laws is included below.

Government Officials
The naming of the government officials comes from naval tradition. The leader of the nation is known as the "Admiral", the next in command is the "Vice Admiral." The Admiral has an assisting commity, made up of "Commodores", as in "Commodore of Defence", "Commodore of the Exterior", et cetera. The Commodores' departments have sub-divisions, which are run by "Captains", for example, the Captain of Commerce serves directly under the Commodore of the Interior.
