The Protectorate of Gis Mone is a former region of Thingamajiggers, classified by the UN as a "Left-Wing Utopia". Known as "The Great Thingamajiggeri Socialist Experiment", the nation was created by Karnbeln Arias Nejika after witnessing the fact that the current socialist countries in Thorin actually weren't collapsing. Intrigued, Nejika turned his ear toward the quickly growing Communist party of Thingamajiggers. He decided to transform one of the provinces of Thingamajiggers into its own country, which would remain a protectorate of Thingamajiggers. The purpose of the protectorate would be to test the socialist system in Thingamajiggers, seeing if the people of the region were actually ready for the Revolution. Gis Mone's civil rights are a world benchmark, as are its political freedoms. Its economy is reasonable. Gis Mone's national animal is the yellow cardinal and its currency is the modarch.

History
Socialism in Thingamajiggers
When exactly the idea of socialism began to take root in Thingamajiggers is unknown. As the country has, since the Thingamajiggeri Revolutionary War, prided itself on democracy, even if by mouth only, the idea may have even existed since the founding. However, the movement was invisible until 446 AF, near the end of the Thingamajiggeri-Xerconian Cold War. This was the year that the Thingamajiggeri Party for the Progression of Socialism, referred to as the Socialist Party or ThingSoc casually, was created. It was founded by Jakhan Kartrots. It was a minority party for the next several hundred years. Socialists were never really persecuted, not majorly, anyway, but they were looked upon, as right-wing political commentator Mink Trivsno became famous for saying, as "bearded, dirty, hippy, good-for-nothing idealists with their heads too far up their asses to make it in business". People did not find communism to be evil, just non-realistic, constantly citing that the world was not ready for "The Revolution".
The Growing Momentum of the Movement
However, this all changed around 600 AF. Already shifting attitudes towards socialism were helped along by the founding of Kruschuchk, the first major Communist nation of Thorin. Previous socialist societies had been attempted in the region. However, they had all been weak, and the countries rarely outlasted the decade. Kruschuchk, however, was an exception. Its party had a strong, firm footing and was achieving success politically. It also helped that Xerconia, which Kruschuchk had grown out of, had been a totalitarian society, and, because of this, Thingamajiggers's most mistrusted ally and former enemy. If even Xerconia had become more free than Thingamajiggers, maybe it was time for Thingamajiggers to consider modernizing it system, was the public sentiment.
Founding
By 760 AF, Kruschuchk was still going strong. While its economy was a bit weak, it showed no signs of collapsing any time soon. In fact, it was even the UN Delegate for the region. Nearly 50% of the country was supportive of socialism. Maybe, it thought, the country was ready for "the Revolution". Karnbeln Nejika, as one of the final acts of his career, decided to turn the norther-eastern Thingamajiggers province of Gis Mone, a socialist stronghold, into a protectorate designed to test the waters of socialism. This made Nejika a very unique Karnbeln. He started his career by creating a country out of a region and ended it by doing the same thing. In his second year of his first term, 747, he had allowed Makh Allet to secede. Now, in 760, the final year of his third and final term, he was creating Gis Mone.
It is thus that Gis Mone was founded. The chairman of ThingSoc at the time was Martel Brink, and thus he became the head of Gis Mone.
The Pyramic Plague and the end of Gis Mone
On May 1st, 798, the first case of a new plague, the Pyramic Plague (or "Glass Death" as it came to be known in the media) was reported in East Loftneeyet, Gis Mone. This plague, to most humans, was hardly noticeable. Its virus simply produced a tad bit of congestion, usually attributed to allergies. However, it became a deadly epidemic when it entered Gis Mone. When a person with a specific genetic marker, known only in people of Thingan decent, became infected, they experienced horrible reactions. It started with a heavy fever. Then, the skin began to get rough and patchy. Bones started to weaken. Finally, in the latter stages of the infection, the skin became flaky and crystalline, and the bones became as brittle as hand-crafted glass. Most people died painfully within 2 weeks of infection. By the winter of 807, nearly the entire population of Gis Mone was dead. The only survivors were those that lacked the genetic marker, whether it be because of little to no Thingan ancestry or random mutation. These survivors migrated to neighboring countries such as Shadowy Goodness or Bravo Romeo, as they were not allowed to return to Thingamajiggers, which was worried that they may carry some trace of the glass death with them. The land that was once Gis Mone was declared unfit to ever hold a Thingan population again, and for utmost safety, no other country was to claim the land for another 25 years.
Culture
Nomenclature
Gis Mone is Du-Hickazn, meaning "The Plains of Gis". Gis was the name of a sect of the early Thingans, which had grown very influential in the region, so much so that the area took their name.
Flag
The center of the flag bears the Thingamajiggeri star of hope, crossed by the Communist sammer and sickle emblem. The background behind it is basically the Thingamajiggeri flag, but with a color swap. The black is replaced by the blue of freedom and the streak of blue is replaced by a second streak of red, for communism.
