Nationstates Description
The Empire of Hrydonia is a huge, devout nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, cynical population of 986 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings." It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Equality and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 77%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out. Government officials are held to the highest standard of morality, waste is frequently shipped to other countries, there's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt, and all artwork is carefully screened for offensive material. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Hrydonia's national animal is the hyperactive teenager, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
History

- Hrydonia, in the early 21st century AD, passed both the 400 million and 500 million population mark. In 2000, the population was 401 million and in 2025 it was 591 million.
Government
The Empire of Hrydonia is currently a dictatorship, however maintaining all the appearances of the former constitutional monarchy. The government is divided into three branches, the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. The Executive branch is headed de facto by the Emperor but de jure by the Prime Minister. Legislative branch is composed of Parliament, which is bicameral and consists of the upper house, or the Senate, and the lower branch, or the National Assembly. The Judicial Branch is composed of the Supreme Court. Parliament is weak and is used lately mostly for unanimously approving the Emperor's policies. The current prime minister is also little more than a crony and puppet of the Emperor, as the prime ministers have been since the reign of Maximillian the Fourth back in the 1820s.
Military The four branches of the Hrydonian military fall under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Ministry of War. The Imperial Armed Forces are organized similarly to most militaries the world over, in the form of an Army, Navy, Air Force, and Imperial Marine Corps. Each branch has a strength of 2,005,000 service members.
Foreign Relations Hrydonia tends to stay isolationist regarding the world at large, and indeed does not have any formal relations with any country.

On Surveillance
Most people have a small chip implanted in them that holds financial information, their name, and about anything else that a scanner would need to know. This system of surgically implanted chips has replaced the credit card, checking accounts, and even lunch cards and student IDs with few exceptions, the few exceptions being either those born illegally or without a doctor in attendance or one of the small religious sects that believes that it is immoral to 'go under the knife ', but that group is rather small, and made smaller by sporadic governmental persecution, and only numbers in the hundreds anyway.
