HISTORY OF IMAD Part I: FOUNDATIONS

It is not precisely known on which world the Imadi culture originated. It is fairly well accepted that this mysterious homeworld is somewhere in the Koron system, which has twelve planets orbiting around a binary star. Nine of these planets could support human life, and researchers have been attempting to tackle the immense task of searching each planet thoroughly for remains of an Imadi civilisation for hundreds of years. What is known about Imadi civilisation during this period has come down to us in modern times through ancient Imadi literature, much of which yet survives, and through Imadi religion, which Imadis are very proud of. Particularly, the Mawr Llyfr, or "Great Book", is a wonderful source of information on ancient Imadi thought. The book is written in an archaic form of the modern Imadi language which is called Dyrchafu. It is a large, leather-bound book, with the word Nefolaidd Athro barely visible upon its cover. Sadly, we cannot translate these words, as the language is an even older form of Imadi than the book is written in, and it has not come down to us. No such words exist in any known language.

Part II: THE GREAT MIGRATION

We know from the Mawr Llyfr that Imadi society is extremely old, going back nearly five thousand years that are traceable through surviving documents, though it must extend further. The word "Cartref", meaning Home, is used several times, but always following the word "Newydd", which means New. This suggests a recent migration of some sort, and neither the new or old home are mentioned by name. There are clues in the text which have lead us to the Koron system, namely the consistent use of the phrase "by the suns in the sky" and reference to stellar phenomena which occur only in that system. It is also apparent from the text that primative forms of spaceflight had been developed at the time the Mawr Llyfr was written, as the text mentions quite frequently that the author and the author's companions have arrived on a new planet in the same system as their previous homeworld. The author mentions a great disaster, but does not explain, saying it is too horrible for recollection. It is reasonable to believe that this is what drove the Imadi people to migrate, though it is not known to where they migrated. It does mention that the Imadi society was located on the third planet at the time of the writing, but the inner three planets in the Koron System switch orbits at five-hundred year intervals. Since our dating technologies cannot be so precise on something so old, it is impossible to determine which lanet is being referred to. Also, the author mentions that a great many Imadis were killed during the migration due to "the ships exploding or disinegrating around them." It is unclear as to the cause of this horror, but it would not be unreasonable to say it was due to an agressive attack. It is entirely possible that this same attack is what drove the Imadi People from their homeworld in the first place, but we cannot yet be sure.
