History

Imbar was founded in 1896 as a seaport for those exploring the Kharlor Jungles by means of the Imb River. It was originally little more than a trading post and docks, and even by 1950 it was a small town with a population of under 5,000 people. With the founding of the Imbar Mining Company which later became Imbar General Corporation, the population of Imbar skyrocketed, climbing to a population of 1.2 Million people within less than 50 years. This was aided by the enormous amount of jobs offered by the new company, as well as the newly completed airport and Tolvarus Imperial Highway System.

Other Information

The city of Imbar is only 20ft above sea-level, and with its proximity to both the Ocean and the mouths of the Imb River, it was originally subject to frequent floods. Once it became the headquarters of the Imbar Mining Company, however, measures were taken to prevent the flooding which harmed the company’s production and employee recruiting. Dams, locks, and retaining walls were built on the Imb River, with only limited shore access to the river itself. A massive concrete seawall was also built into into the Imbar Harbor, lessening the effects of hurricanes while at the same time giving defense against any enemy naval assaults. Over half of the city of Imbar is owned by Imbar General Corp. With another 10% under government control, only about 35% of the city is actually in individuals’ possession.
