Overview
Isogeldur (English: Ice-O-Gelder) officially The Allied States of Isogeldur is an island nation in The Inner Arctic Circle. The country currently consists of 129 islands, of which 87 are permanently inhabited. Due to extreme volcanic activity in The Inner Arctic Circle eruptions create 5-10 new islands on average every five years.
The total area of Isogeldur is 532,113 square kilometers (205,450 sq mi). Isogeldur 's population is slightly over 7 million people, concentrated mainly on the six largest islands Hofsjöeyja, Vatnajöeyja, Mýrdalsjörð, Öskjuvafandi, Sultasey and Breiðafjörsey.
Isogeldur has a long tradition as a major exporter of Fish and Wool. In recent years Isogeldur has become a world leader in the marine engineering industry. Uranium products, both military and civilian, have steadily become the country’s leading export since the discovery of uranium ore, on the island of Vatnajöeyja, in the early 1940's.
