The Empire of Itinerate Tree Dweller is a massive, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape, its massive defense spending and its complete lack of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 2.657 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent Emperor who controls almost ever aspect of the nation and kills and destroys at his own whim. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. Citizens are encouraged to join the military and are often the victims of extensive social engineering programs designed to root out the weak and encourage the strong and fit. The nation focuses on technological advances and has recently reached the footholds of advanced spaceflight.

===The New Land=== [About 12 AD]
Historical records of ITD suggest that the pacific islands of ITD were first settled by a unique cultural blend of romans and germans. Most noted historians believe that two groups were stranded on the island and that they eventually grew together. This is why the native language Ninthok bears close resemblence to latin and german.
===The Old Republic=== [130 AD - 350 AD]
ITD was founded as a republic, the republic was the creation of 8 of the known 9 tribes which inhabited the islands now encompassing ITD. The majority of society was divided into a strict caste system. The highest caste consisted of the elder statesmen and the highest military officers, these men were known as Patricians. The second caste consisted of the majority of the society, encompassing the merchants and regular civilians, this caste was known as the Plebians. The third caste consisted of soldiers and the republic cohorts, they were known as the Legion.
The 9th tribe was warrior like and refused to submit to the wills of a democracy; they were also much larger than any other tribe. By rejecting membership in the democratic state, the 9th tribe enacted a policy of isolationism for a period of over 200 years. The republic existed for 25 presidential terms, until civil war broke out in the islands co-inhabited by 9th tribe members and other tribes. The reason for the battle remains unclear to this day, but there is speculation that the lower tribes began expanding into the Ninthian territory. This civil war was very brief, yet led to the total destruction and breakdown of the republic. The 9th tribe had won the war. mostly because of their vast numbers and indoctrination of the military lifestyle.
===The Great Xerik=== [351 AD - 470 AD]
The nation in shatters, and the republic on its last leg, there was only a matter of time before a new leader arose. That leader was found in a man named Xerik, whom led the ninth tribe to total victory. He assumed the role of dictator, but allowed a small national council to exist. The council had limited power. During his reign he had three children, two boys and a girl. He lived for thirty years as dictator of the nation, until he was assasinated by members of the eigth tribe, the second largest and former leaders of the nation. With the assasination of The Great Xerik the nation was in turmoil. He had created an era of relative peace. He had ended the civil battles and he had quieted the rebel factions. His body was given to leading members of his tribe, his location is unknown. His children escaped the nation, and established their families on a nearby island named Hades Cluster. Hades Cluster was turned into a stronghold by the ninth tribe. The island remains an important part of the Empire.
===The Dark Era=== [471 AD - 1400 AD]
The dark era was a time of uncertainty. Limted accounts and records detail the history of the nation during this time. During this time the use of firearms became prevalent. Coal replaced oil as a primary fuel supply, and the nation began to develop its first few industries, which is evident in the pollution records from that time. Little is known about the styles of government during this time, except that a rash of city-states arose. "Kings" of these cities waged small battles on each other for expansion rights. There is no knowledge of any national government.
===The Age Of Reason=== [1401 -1975]
The lands developed as any other lands during this time period. With technological development matching that of Europe and the United States, this period was the driving force behind the machine of war that was the Ninthian tribe.
===The Phoenix Rises=== [1976 - CURRENT]
We knew that the family of Xerik had fled for refuge. It has been discovered that the families stemming from Xerik were numerous. Unfortunately they all died over the course of five-hundred years, except for one. Lazarus of the ninth was the only remaining descendant of Xerik. Lazarus saw the oppourtunity to take back his nation, therefore he did. He led the remains of the 9th tribe on a march toward the nations capital. He struck down the city kings and made himself dictator. He rules to this very day. He has since discarded the ways of the old republic and dictatorship. He has established himself as Emperor over all of the lands. His lineage was furthered by the birth of his son Erik, named in honor of Xerik.
