The Holy Republic of Itza Chichen is a very large, devout nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 166 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The enormous government concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Religion & Spirituality and the Environment are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 30%. A nonexistent private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.
Parents live in fear of governmental 'child protection' squads, expensive lawyers are hired to defend citizens in court for public urination charges against their pets, minority children spend hours bussing to schools miles away from home, and military spending recently hit a new high. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate. Itza Chichen's national animal is the rubber chicken, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dollar.
