Jaziraat (zhah-zee-RAH-'aht) is an archipelago nation comprising the Canary Islands and Madeira Island.
GEOGRAPHY
Situated off the northwest coast of Africa and just southwest of the Iberian peninsula, the Atlantic Ocean nation is comprised of ten major islands (Madeira, Pursante, Moiguanche, Lanzarote, Fueneventura, Canariacbire, Tenerife, Palma, Gomera, and Hfuipuiche) and about a dozen islets. The islands are the peaks of oceanic volcanoes, having sufaced nearly 14 miilion years ago from eruptions and the movements of the Earth's tectonic plates. The highest peak, Pico Teide (3,718m), can be seen from the African coast, and casts the world's biggest sea-shadow.
