The Regressive HateState of Kazcaper began life with a few million inhabitants. Since then, the population has boomed, with mass immigration and births. With over 4 billion citizens at present, the government is currently seeking to control the size of the country.
Kazcaper's economy fluctuates occasionally, but is generally considered good. The country's citizens are almost exlcusively hard workers; those that are not need to prove that they are genuinely incapable of work before receiving any government benefits. The gambling industry is currently the major industry within the country, and its currency, the Non-Botanical Crucifer, is roughly equivalent to US$0.20.
Civil rights and political freedoms are relatively low. The government essentially keeps out of citizens' everyday lives, but does impose stong rules where it feels it is appropriate. For example, although crime is rare, those that do commit are stripped of 'normal' human rights as a result. Free speech - including hate speech - is generally allowed, though if the government feels there is a danger of civil unrest or individual harm, perpetrators can face heavy sanctions and/or legal proceedings. Gay marriage and adoption, abortion, smoking and alcohol are legal, whilst adultery, pornography, prostitution, and 'hard' drugs such as cocaine and heroin are strictly against the law. The government is passionate about fair and equal treatment for all who contribute to Kazcapian society, regardless of sex and gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability and age; indeed, they claim that that the reason for such harsh legal penalties in some quarters is in order to ensure the country's citizens are seen as humans, and not objects for abuse. Fair elections are held every five years, though the Kazcapian Centrist Party, currently led by Dr Aurora F. B'Stard, has held power for 33 years.
English is the major language in the country, though differing dialects of it (such as Olde English and Hiberno-English) can be found in some areas. Children are educated in Spanish from the age of five, and later in their education have the choice to study a number of many other languages.
Kazcaper's capital, Karennza, is located on the Eastern coast of the country and houses 80 million of its inhabitants. The National Parliament can also be found here. The city is well known for its beautiful, sandy beaches and bustling night-life. A few hundred miles West of Karennza lie the Karennian mountains and Lough Kazcita. These are considered some of the most beautiful natural landmarks in the country, and are popular with tourists.
The climate in Kazcaper is generally sunny and warm throughout the year, though in mid-Winter the temperature inevitably drops a few degrees. Rain is fairly uncommon, though can be found occasionally at this time of year, especially in North-Western areas.
