Ketchley & Pickering plc, more commonly known as K&P, is an international retailer based in the United Kingdom specialising originally in imported foods, but having since diversified into a broader stock of groceries and other consumer goods including textile products, electronic goods, multimedia products, and consumer financial services.

According to research by retail analysts, K&P holds a 36.7% share of the Oceanian groceries market for the 52-week period ending on 15 October 2006, an increase from the previous year’s 33.5%. Its shares in markets for other divisions, such as textiles and electronic goods are in a similar range at or near 1/3 of the Oceanian market.

The consumer market of the company is broad, although the original K&P stores targeted middle and upper class consumers with their upscale products and imported foods and drinks, the key to the company’s broader success in the late 20th and early 21st century is the use of its growing economy of scale, allowing it to sell quality products to the lower-middle class and even lower class at competitive prices. Coupled with the concern for quality products is the high-priority of customer service, the Financial Review called the company the 2nd best place to shop in the UK in 2006 in its annual review of domestic retailers.

Domestically, Ketchley & Pickering faces stiff competition from local retailers as well as by foreign retailers that have begun to enter the UK market, including WorldTech Industries and Tenatura of Hamptonshire and similar businesses based in Pacitalia.
