The Democratic Republic of Kicaeria (DROK) is a fledgling nation with a turbulent past. As time marches on, Kicaeria's leaders must strike a delicate balance between honoring the old system and preserving its customs, and advancing her socially, economically, and militarily. Though patriotic by necessity, many of her citizens look back nostalgically to bygone days of glory, and hope. Hard times lie ahead for Kicaeria's people: after all, there is capitalism to promote, democracy to foster, and an empire to regain. Will the ordo novus triumph, or will history repeat itself? Only time will tell.

Overview

As with most troubled pasts, Kcaeria's is pitted and gaffed with titanic power struggles, and scarred by many battles. The future, however, is brigthening. The Democratic Republic of Kicaeria is a large, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed population of 45 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The small government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Defence. The average income tax rate is 13%, but much higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Trout Farming. The prinicples of freedom of expression are held dear, voting is held sacrosanct, a referenda may be passed by a one-third vote, the people elect the Supreme Court justices directly, and the government is attempting to impose a new national language on the public. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Kicaeria's national animal is the wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the orator.
