this ancient empire was formed 400 years ago as a result of a long civil war that unified several smaller nations.

Almost instantly Shogun Katsushiro closed of the empire which didn't open up until 1864 AD.

Power lies with the council of Daimyo's and the Shogun. the current holder is General Nakamura of the Imperial Kirisuban army.

Culture

Kirisubo is a very peaceful place to live. Since crime is virtually unknown citizens can concentrate on working hard and raising their families.

For entertainment natives may watch Noh and Kabuki plays and go to the one of the many Sumo wrestling bashos amongst a lot of things.

Western sports have become popular such as baseball, soccer and rugby union. the film making industry is alive and kicking and viewers in movie theatres can watch anything from an action movie to a Jiddi-gekki (period drama).

the main religions are Shinto and Buddism. Christianity is only a recent arrival as is Islam. Therefore both of these new arrivals have few worshippers. At the last census Christianity was just about larger than Islam with less than 1/2 million people following both faiths in total.

People are free to choose their faith but the government cracks down hard on barbaric religious practices and practices that break local laws.

The Kirisuban outlook on life

We are a enviromentally minded nation with many areas of natural beauty. We like to keep things simple, in harmony and balanced.

A lot of the old ways have survived including legalised prostitution. Mama san's still run tea houses in the old manner and Courtesans still ply their trade without stigma. These ladies of the willow world still sucessfully make a living even in this modern era. They are usually distinguished from other citizens by the wearing of brightly coloured kimonos and large belt sashes tied at the back in the traditional way.

Also found in Tea Houses are Geisha. Their name translates as 'person of talent' and these ladies can play traditional instruments, dance and generally entertain in the old way. Recognisable by the white face paint and traditional clothing they can be seen all over Kirisubo. along with their Courtesan sisters they make up most of the traditional entertainment industry.

Since we work hard as a nation we also play hard and the tea houses have a lot of trade as a result. Paying for a ladies services dosen't carry the same stigma as in the west and its an accepted part of a mans life. Women can also use tea houses so sexual equality is maintained.

The family is the building block of the Empire. With both parents usually having to work in Kirisubo a child generally spends a lot of time with their grandparents. The aged are given great respect because of their wisdom and old people carry out their responsibility to influence the younger generation with great euthasism.

The Imperial family is no different and the Dowager Empress Emiko is seen as an influencial matriarch which a lot of people look up to.

Recent Political Happenings

In September 2005 Kirisubo joined the great region of Gatesville as a francise member. we also serve the Gatesville Sovereign Protectorate (the militia). We also maintain an active presence in the NSUN.

in early April 2006 the Emperor Akahito died and his daughter the Crown Princess Fujiko ascended the throne as Empress Fujiko, daughter of heaven.

Our NSUN Team

Kaigan Miromuta

kaigan.jpg

Our UN Ambassador is Samurai-Captain Kaigan Miromuta, a samurai-officer in the 3rd Kirisuban defence army.

Kaigan Miromuta is the eldest son of Keiko and Akahito Miromuta, Kaigan also has a younger brother and sister.

He was born in 1969 in Edo, the capital of Kirisubo. As expected of him as a member of a samurai family he went to the Yedo Imperial military school where he remained until his coming of age at 16 years old. He graduated with honours in 1985 and continued his military career full time.

Already a rising star in the Kirisuban army he went on to command a tank company at 20 years of age holding the rank of Captain before joining the general staff of the 3rd defence army.

Captain Miromuta was the first liaison officer appointed between the Kirisuban armed forces and the Gatesville Sovereign Protectorate.

He took well to the job for the short time he had it. A scandal back home forced the recall of the UN Ambassador and Kaigan was appointed Ambassador in his place.

Since then he’s settled down into his new job and hopes to continue serving his country in his current post.

He also represents the interests of his region, Lifestyles of the RichNfamous as their regional delegate.

Politically Kaigan is socially minded favouring National Sovereignty issues. He also has a keen grasp of environmental issues. He’s a maverick and in the short time he’s been in the UN he’s certainly got noticed and has got the Empire of Kirisubo involved in small scale responses to international incidents. Kirisubo has helped broker ceasefires and treaties in Zodno-Pomerskie, Kilani and is also working in SLI-Sector to broker a ceasefire between the two factions in their civil war.

He still holds his army rank and hopes to stay in the UN for a fair while to come.

Midori Kasigi-Nero

midori.jpg

Samurai-Captain Midori Kasigi-Nero is the deputy ambassador and until recently served in the Imperial Kirisuban Airforce as the squadron leader of a search and rescue unit. She's an expert helicopter pilot and if its got rotors she'll be able to fly it.

she was born in 1980 in Nagano and like all children there grew up to love winter sports especially skiing. Her father Katsuo Kasigi was a samurai-officer in the Imperial Air Force and his only child followed him into the services.

Her political interests lie in the environmental and social justice fields. Like Kaigan she is also a very strong national sovereignist.

This posting is her first political job but she has the confidence to blend in anywhere.

Personal note: She has recently got engaged to Pazu-Lenny Kasigi-Nero, formerly Nero, the UN Ambassador from Love and esterel hence her name change.
