The Federation of Klatonia, often summarized to Klatonia, is a four-State nation located near the Mandchourian Bay. Its recent history was marked by an armed rebellion against prohibition of cannabis and against the tyrannical oppression that followed. The independent states of Sherby, Kleptophilia, Manicouagan and Woodsville united under the name Klatonia, which used to be the name of the geographical region.

The Federation is currently a member of the Equatorial Alliance and served one term of office as Primary Judge in the High Court. Over the weeks that preceded that nomination, Klatonia, by way of its President Alexis Trudeau, stood tall and stood often for the protection of States' independance within the Alliance and the United Nations. In October of 2007, Alexis Trudeau fulfilled a promise he had made earlier and resigned from his position as Primary Judge, citing the personal belief that "the law is dynamic, and can therefore not be measured by the same people over too long a period of time."

Governement

The Government is separated in three branches: an executive, a legislative and a judiciary.

Contrarily to most countries in NS, the executive of Klatonia is made up of seven members elected from the legislative who collegialy act as the final authority on matters regarding the State.

The Legistlative is comprised of the 205 members of the House of Commons and the 40 members of the Federal Senate. The House represents the people, as the Senate represents the States. Together, they form the General Assembly, and the Council is elected amongst and by it.

The 205 MHC (members of the House of Commons) are elected by a mixed-member proportional representation election. 165 seats are attributed to that many ridings, and the remaining 40 distributed so to reflect the proportionality of the final percentage of vote.

The 40 Senators (10 per State) are elected in two parts: five are elected by the Legislative Assembly of each State, and five are elected directly by the people of each State, with a direct vote for candidates.

The Judiciary is nominated by the Head of Interior Affairs and Sollicitor General after consulting with the Assembly. The Constitution states that Any citizen over 18, schooled in law of the Federation, is eligible, as long as: (a) he has not been a standing member, a sympathizer or a donator to a political party, for seven years; (b) he has not been convicted of any felony crime without receiving his pardon; (c) he has not been convicted of high treason; (d) he has not seated in either House or the Council for seven years.

The independence of the Courts is highly valued.
