Lésankîn University (Alvésin Otàîédukîr Lésankîn, French Université Lésankin) is the most prestigious university in Antrium. It is also one of the largest schools in the country. It is a public university, and it is coeducational, like all schools in Antrium. It has a large campus in the city of Anvàln, in Monvelaro, in central Antrium. It is the oldest school in Antrium, founded in 1774 by Léonàr Lésankîn, whom the school is named after. It is well known for its school of Art and Design.

History

The school was originally built in 1774 what is now central Anvàln, but what was then New Washington, the soon-to-be capital of American Federalist. It was originally named New Washington College. It was funded through donations by Léonàr Lésankîn, a wealthy banker who had lived in the area all of his life. When he died in 1796, he left his entire estate (about V$2,400) and his library (about 250 books) to the college. At this time, the college decided to rename itself Lésankîn University.

Over the many years since then, donations from many generous people as well as government funding have funded additions to the university. Lésankîn University now has 6 colleges.

Motto

The school's motto is "Édukîràj Kostrîkîmàr de Futuér", which is Alvésin for "Education will build the future." The motto was chosen by the school's first President, Ambîrn Téokwà, in 1800.

Campus

Lésankîn University is located in downtown Anvàln. The college is centered around the Administrative Offices on Lésankîn Avenue. Some of the newer buildings extend to the northeast, into the neighborhood now known as Îowàr Park.

The University also has 12 dormitory buildings, which are on the edges of the main campus.

Colleges

Lésankîn University is divided into six colleges, each with a different focus. The school started with only one college, the Lésankîn College. The others were added since then, through donations and government funding.

The Lésankîn College

The Lésankîn College is the oldest college on the campus. It is the general undergraduate program. They offer 42 different majors, including Linguistics, Literature, Antrian/Federalist History, Chemistry, Psychology, Music, Mathematics, and many more.

The Lésankîn School of Art and Design was the first addition to the campus, built in 1802. It was built through donations from local artists, and through Lésankîn's estate money. Lésankîn had always had an interest in the arts and wanted a college of art to be built in Anvàln. This college is somewhat responsible for the large artistic community in Anvàln today. This college includes the Kentis School of Design, the Lésankîn School of the Arts, and the Lésankîn School of Engineering. Students may also major in architecture in this college.

The Lésankîn Medical College

The Lésankîn Medical College was the second addition to the Lésankîn campus, built in 1821. It was also built through donations. The government also gave some money to the university to build this school, as the country only had one medical school at this time, which was extremely overcrowded. This college includes the Àltàrn School of Medicine, the Sîràngàr School of Dental Medicine, and the Lîndérû M. Lîosàndro Nursing School.

The Lésankîn School of Law

The Lésankîn School of Law was the next addition. It was built in 1868, also through donations and government funding. The Anvàln area did not have a law school at this time, and the university wanted to continue to add more fields to their school, to fit the rapidly growing city of Anvàln. The Lésankîn School of Law includes the Jérékon Law School and the Grétàlno School of Government.

The Lésankîn School of Business

The Lésankîn School of Business was built on the east side of the campus in 1904. The school had received enough donation money and government funding to build a new college, and they chose business as its focus, because they thought it was an important field to offer to their students. They felt that business would be important in most careers, and that it would be greatly beneficial for their students to take business classes.

The Akûlendû School of Education

The Akûlendû School of Education is the newest addition to the campus, in 1940. The school was funded by a large donation by Okàrdû Akûlendû, who wanted her money to go to a new teaching school.

Sports

The Lésankîn University sports team is called the Lésankîn Eagles. They have soccer, baseball, tennis, track, archery, swimming, skiing, and snowboarding teams. Their mascot is Érîk de Eglé, or "Eric the Eagle."

The soccer teams play at the Stegro Velem Stadium, south of downtown Anvàln. The other teams play at various locations in the Anvàln area. The skiing and snowboarding teams compete at the Lésankîn Ski Area, just east of Anvàln.
