Liberalia is a highly active and, by most measures, successful region. It has around 180 nations. Liberalia is listed as one of Salfara's 32 largest NationStates regions.

History

The Sovereign and Independent region of Liberalia was born on 20th December 2005, by exiled democratic nations from the region of WWSETI. The first three of these nations, Carops, Ardalia and Loslakia, proclaimed a government-in-exile in Liberalia, following the installment of a dictatorship in their home region.

Liberalia grew rapidly and talks with WWSETI, which was loosing members and failing to find recruits, collapsed. It wasn't long before it became clear that Liberalia would thrive independantly and it was decided that reunification with WWSETI was not an option that would do well for the region.

The first Liberalians retained Carops as their Prime Minister from the 28th December 2005, when they elected their first democratically-elected leader. Carops served as provisional Prime Minister up to this point to enable the region to grow large and stable enough to be in a position to elect a leader. Carops served as Prime Minister until early March 2006, even though his term was slated to end in late February. Farlane was elected Prime Minister under the Moderate Party.

As of 2 April 2006, Liberalia is also the first region with a recreational television station, Liberalian Television Network (abbreviated LTN). LTN is a project headed by former admin Northern Sushi to bring a nice place for forum members to sit back and relax as they watch a wide variety of television programming relating to everything from entertainment to sports.

Recently In Liberalia

• Northern Sushi, former Minister of Security and Defence, has been punished by the Guardians for threatening to release classified regional security information. NS has been demoted to Commissar and forbidden from holding a Cabinet position until June.

• Elections for the next Prime Minister recently took place in Liberalia. The election was the closest in the history of the region. The two main candidates were former Prime Minister Carops, standing under the Moderate Coalition (formed by the Moderate Party, The Liberal Democrats and the Socialist Party) and Permanent Guardian Science and Discovery, under the Right-Wing Coalition (formed by the Capitalist Party and the Republican Party). Carops won the elections by just four votes.

• An Advisory Committee board was formed by Carops right after the election. Although Carops and his moderate administration objected to it, the right wing requested it as a balance between political influence on the government. The Socialist party and Liberal party quickly joined in to protest it, claiming it to be "Pointless", arguing that influencing government is what the forums themselves are used for and that it's merely an attempt for the right-wing to gain power.
