About Linuxtobia
Linuxtobia is a very large nation that is famous for it's encouraging attitude towards open source software and it's huge IT industry (In its region only Evil Random iPods is bigger). It has very good civil rights, a good economy and good democratic freedoms. The national animal is the penguin. Linuxtobia is situated in the region of Randomia and has a variety of natural resources including iron ore, gold and natural spring water.
History
Linuxtobia was founded in March 2006 a.d. after a long and bloody online war against the Forces of Globalization, Corruption and Proprietry Software. It's first General elections were held on the 15th of March and elected Thomasina Marshall whos Left wing government was in power for six successive terms, Bringing Linuxtobia into it's Golden Age and Moving to the Region of Randomia. They were finally ousted In the last Elections By Thomas Ellerton's "Free Linuxtobia" party in a landside victory after the Left Wing Government Introduced the manifestly unpopular "Compulsory Voting in Elections" Bill. Liuxtobia is now looking to the future with ambitious Space Policies and Social Reforms.
Culture
Linuxtobian's Love a good party and they have lots of them with monthly festivals throughout the country. They have two major national foods which are Grilled Salmon from the clean oceans surrounding the country and Natural spring water from the mountain range that meanders down the right side of the nation. They also enjoy going to the local theatre for a good Flash (tm) animation.
Government
The Government of Linuxtobia is a Democraticically elected multiparty Democracy. Linuxtobia hold General Elections every 5 years for both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Senators and MP's have a timelimit of 5 minutes for their speeches to avoid stalemating the debate.
Ministers
PM The Prime minister of Linuxtobia is Thomas Ellerton. He was elected in a landslide victory in the last general elections with his "Free Linuxtobia" party. His vision for Linuxtobias future is for Linuxtobia to become a strong regional power and develope a strong but fair economy, a System of Civil and Political rights second to none and a scientific and military program to rival the best in the world. Of course all this will take time.
Defense Minister of Linuxtobia is General Gordon Reimer. He want's to oversee the re-arment of Linuxtobia, And believes that the way to go is focussing on highly trained small elite taskforces, and air superiority, He however needs more money that is not always forthcoming from the government to do this.
Foreign Minister of Linuxtobia is Mrs Nicola Greenfield who believes in peacefull negotiations and war as a last resort. She want's to build strong diplomatic ties with other nations in Randomia and the world
Treasurer of Linuxtobia is Rosemary Houghton, Mp for Highdale North. She believes in moderate capitalism, moderate income tax, and moderate everything else. She describes herself as: moderate.

Military
The linuxtobian arms manufacturing sector has recently developed many new technologies. It is a Present Tech and Modern Tech military and A conglomorate of Linuxtobian arms manufacturers will soon be releasing their innovative designs to the world under the name of Linuxtobian Military Engineering.
Air Force: The Linuxtobian air force is small at the moment but has 2 squadrons of F10 Raptor fighters. Each unit consits of 5 flights of ten aircraft. One unit is primarily air to air and intercepter and the other is air to ground targetted strike. It also has 10 C-1 dropmasters to take the army anywhere in the world.
Army: The linuxtobian Army has a small tank division and a an infantry division using assault rifles designed with open source software and the marines use active camouflage exclusive to linuxtobia that uses the power of the new Linux kernel to do the complex calculations required to get it right. Linuxtobia Is now focussing on developing a super elite SAS Recon force styled after the Ninjas of the Past.
Navy Linuxtobias Navy is still in developement.
Space Program
Linuxtobia has a rapidly developing space program funded by the government and helped by the Private industry in the form of adverts on the side of space craft. The military is also interested in developing an ambitious plan to put a network of spy sattelites and eventually perhaps missile sats in orbit. The military have dubbed this "Operation Star Wars"
Cities
Linuxtobia's capital city is Freetown.
It is a beutiful city, with the inner city suburbs almost completely remodelled in the past few years towards an "ecocity" with integrated living and commercial zones for reduced transport needs, renewable energy sources including solar panels and rooftop wind turbines, and rooftop and balcony gardens to improve self sustainability. Almost all cars in Linuxtobia are now powered by hydrogen fuel cells meaning that Freetown is also one of the cleanest cities with minimal pollution problems.
