The Free Republic of Capitollium has 25 constituencies, each arranged by population so that they each elect a slate of 20 legislators to the Citizens' Congress.

The Northern Highlands

Wyndhaven Central (WC)

Spem Reduxit.

Wyndhaven.png

Home to the capital of the Free Republic, the constituency Wyndhaven Central comprises the city of Wyndhaven and two adjoining suburbs in its metropolitan area. A thoroughly modern city, it contains the headquarters of many international institutions (such as the Free Market States Exchange and Federative Trade Association) and is known as the "Capital of European Business".

Outer Wyndhaven (OW)

Dum Spiro, Spero.
As [Long As] I Breathe, I Hope.

Outer.png

Miles of farmland outside Wyndhaven comprise the constituency of Outer Wyndhaven, known primarily for being the only Highland constituency able to support an intensive farming economy.

Northkirk and Kilburn (NK)

Sic Semper Tyrannis.
Thus Always to Tyrants.

Northkirk.png

The ancient seat of Clan MacIntyre, Kilburn, and the larger city of Northkirk make up the Constituency of Northkirk and Kilburn. Like Wyndhaven, it is an increasingly modern city, though visible signs of its glorious past (for some time the seat of the MacIntyre Kings) are still present throughout it.

The Capitollium Valley

Upper Capitollium (UC)

Nil Sine Numine.
Nothing Without Providence.

UpperCapitollium.png

Comprising primarily the cities of Andros and Saya, Upper Capitollium surrounds the source of the Wash, the largest river in the country. Upper Capitollium, despite its name, bears less of an imprint of Alephite culture than does Lower Capitollium. Today it encompasses rural farmland.

Lower Capitollium (LC)

Qui Transtulit Sustinet.
He Who Is Transplanted Sustains.

LowerCapitollium.png

Six of the historic Seven Citadels form the constituency of Lower Capitollium near the mouth of the Wash. Thassalos, Kolpopolis, Aima, Kyros, Helicon, and Kastropolis are the six major cities. Unlike other coastal regions, shipping has not replaced fishing as the major industry, primarily because of the shallow, rocky bays of Lower Capitollium that do not make good harbors.

The Central Highlands

Ayrshire (AS)

Is Nios' An T-eagal Na 'n Cogadh.
Fear is Worse Than Fighting.

Ayrshire.png

Ayrshire, the birthplace of Robert Wynne, is an agrarian constituency where, like the rest of the Highlands, herding is the major economic activity. The City of Ayr, which it contains, is the largest of the ancient cities of the Highlands. Due to its situation near the small River Ayr, it did not vanish from the map.

Fraserburgh (FB)

Labor Vincit Omnia
Work Conquers All

Fraserburgh.png

The second major industrial center after Dalmyre, Fraserburgh is a large city by area and thus does not appear to be the huge metropolis it actually is. The city takes up an entire constituency, and is the home to most of Capitollium's Arms Manufacturing and other high-tech manufacturing industries.

Perthshire (PS)

Audax At Fidelis.
Bold but Faithful.

Perthshire.png

The southernmost Highland constituency, Perth is the historic site of battles between Sutherlanders and Gunnishmen, and earlier Dalmyrs and Ogradas. It is also the poorest constituency outside the Sutherland, because most of its historic wealth was in chattel gradually freed by the liberalizing government in the 18th Century and onwards.

East Perthshire (EP)

Semper Fidelis.
Always Faithful.

EastPerthshire.png

Centered around the small city of Auldwood, East Perthshire stretches into the East. It is in no one geographically-defined location, has little cultural significance, and no economic importance besides the logging industry. The constituency was one often referenced by critics of the constituency system as having no historical heritage.

Highgarden (HG)

Sub Umbra Floreo.
In the Shade I Flourish.

Highgarden.png

A prime tourist destination, Highgarden comprises a city of the same name as well as the small city of Newmarket among other towns. With modern amenities and tremendous local natural beauty, it has emerged as a tourist capital and a favorite location for various summit conferences in recent years. A substantial minority speaks High Gunnish.

Lanarkshire-Kilmarnock (LK)

Natura Non Facit Saltum, Ita Nec Lex.
Nature Does Not Make Leaps, Nor Does the Law.

Lanarkshire.png

Lanarkshire-Kilmarnock is a Highland constituency that is also the ancestral seat of Clan Gunn and of tremendous historical importance. High Gunnish, not English, is the primary written and spoken language, though English is increasingly prominent as a dual langauge on road signs and other official notices.

Caithness (CN)

Blod Er Tykkere Enn Vann
Blood Is Thicker Than Water

Caithness.png

A quiet and typical stretch of Highland that includes the ancient cities of Bryntreath and Glastrelv. Like Lanarkshire, High Gunnish is primarily spoken. English is a secondary language, though it is equal in importance to Low Gunnish, a Nordic language quite different from both High Gunnish and English.

Dalmyre

Dalmyre East (DE)

Is fhearr fheuchainn na bhith san duil.
It is better to try than to hope.

EastDalmyre.png

Popularly considered the wealthier half of the huge city of Dalmyre, Dalmyre East houses the country's most famous school, Regis University. Though it long had historical manufacturing wealth, it struggles to compete in the country's globalized economy.

Dalmyre West (DW)

Orta recens quam pura nites.

WestDalmyre.png

Comprising the western half of the city of Dalmyre, the constituency of Dalmyre West is the country's manufacturing center with more industrial workers than any other constituency. Dalmyre West is often considered the working-class division of the city, and it is officially seperated from the former Republic of Dalmyre.

Athenry (AT)

Cha d'Fhag Claidheamh Fehrgus Riamh Fuigheall Beuma.
Fergus's Sword Never Had to Cut Twice.

Athenry.png

A rural constituency in Dalmyre, Athenry is known for its large farming cooperatives. Historically, it is also the seat of the ancient Dalmyric kings. It still bears that name: Ri is ancient Dalmyric for 'king'. It is from here Fergus the Great staged his uprising. Now, Athenry is a diverse landscape that consists of suburbs of Dalmyre and small farming communities.

Christchurch (CC)

Deo Vindice
God Conquers

Christchurch.png

Christchurch is a collection of small idyllic towns and villages of small farmers, and its image of peaceful order and industrious citizens is often contrasted with the lawlessness that is becoming all to prominent in Gunnish life in less serene parts of the nation.

The Coast

Keldgard (KG)

Trägen vinner
Perservere and Never Fear

Keldgard.png

Keldgard, like Thassalos, was founded by a river. Its aggressive Nordic inhabitants, however, carved an inland empire that was eventually consolidated into Gunnar's empire under Sweyn I. English has just recently replaced Low Gunnish as the primary language of the constituency, which includes the ancient seat of the Invader Kings at Fellthwaite.

Brighthelm and the Firths (BF)

Virtute Et Armis.
By Virtue and Arms.

Brighthelm.png

Brighthelm is the country's second largest port, and along with other seaside communities makes up a constituency. The residents of the scenic seaside now reap the benefits of tourism and shipping, both of which have eclipsed commercial fishing and whaling as primary sources of income. Oil and natural gas are being explored as well.

Stormhaven and Westcross (SW)

Na Mara.
Of the Sea.

StormhavenandWestcross.png

A Nordic outpost conquered by Fergus the Great in his uprising, the thousand-year miscegenation that created the Gunnish race, legend has it, began in a widow's home in Stormhaven. Now, the city is a thriving fishing community. Westcross, a traditional duchy, is the other city in the constituency.

Seaguard (SG)

Fiat Justitia Et Pereat Mundus.

Seaguard.png

The country's primary port, it is the home of Gunnar Seaguard Transport and prides itself on spurring the post-revolutionary economic boom with the gigantic shipping networks it espoused. Jenthport, a much more historic coastal trading city, completes the constituency.

The East

Kvaerness (KV)

Ubertas et fidelitas.
Fertiluty and Fidelity.

Kvaerness.png

The largest of the constituencies in area, Kvaerness is famous for its cattle ranching. It is often seen as an essential component of the Gunnish psyche: the frontier where land is cheap and dangers abound.

Kirkvaerness (KK)

Aut concilio, aut ense.
Either by reason, or by the sword.

Kirkvaerness.png

The constituency of Kirkvaerness comprises the city of the same name and several nearby towns and villiages. It is the only large urban center in its extremely rural area. Kirkvaerness is the birthplace of James Starke.

The Sutherland

Lewisshire (LS)

"Cessante Ratione Legis, Cessat Ipsa Lex.
"When There Ceases to be Reason For the Law, the Law Also Ceases."

Lewisshire.png

Comprising most of the historical region known as The Sutherland, Lewisshire is home to the surviving Ograda people, a distinct racial community within the larger Gunnish gene pool. Historically subjugated by their stronger northern neighbors, many Sutherlanders blame the poverty in the decadent manufacturing sectors of Lewisshire on Gunnish misrule. It therefore is known to breed radical leftist governments.

Ostgard and Sunderkirk (OS)

Tron Kan Förflytta Berg.
Faith Can Move Mountains.

Ostgard.png

A constituency that includes the Sutherland area near Sunderkirk and the Coastal area of Ostgard, a motley of High Gunnish and Low Gunnish are spoken by its people so that English is rapidly replacing both. Ostgard is the largest enclave of Nordic Gunnishmen, being the landing place of Gunnar the Conqueror and the most heavily fortified of the Invader Kings' settlements.

Overseas Territories

Shahlep (SL)

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
To the Greater Glory of God

Shahlep.png

Shahlep is an overseas constituency combined with other overseas possessions and many Capitollic citizens who live abroad. It is also an administrative division administered to by the Church, officially called the Amphictyony of Shahlep. Greek and Arabic, not English, are primarily spoken. The Patriarch of Shahlep is the leader of the Alephite Catholic Church.
