The Lugonomekan Language is the native tongue of the Lugonomek people and a major language in the region of Thorin. As such, it is mostly spoken in Lugonomeks, GhosvekTal Soda Land and Unleimeks. It is the official language of Lugonomeks and GhosvekTal Soda Land, and the language most spoken in Unleimeks, although Unleimeks does not have an official language.

Classification and History

Little is known about the origins of the modern Lugonomekan language, only that it is very similar to the language of ancient Lugonomeks and that it is not at all related to the Thornichi languages. It seems to bear many similarities to Indo-European languages, although this may be coincidental. Due to an unusually high literacy rate traditional to the Lugonomeks, there have been relatively few major changes to the Lugonomekan languages over the millenia that it has existed. Also due to high literacy rates, there is very little difference between the languages of the Lugonomeks, despite the fact that they developed thousands of miles apart. The language spoken today is believed to be derived from the form spoken in and around Stadpræst, the capital and largest city of the empire of Lugonea.

Grammar

In Lugonomekan, adjectives and adjectival nouns and the noun they modify are usually combined into one word. The modifier almost always follows the word it modifies, with the exception of the names of a person, which always precede what they modify, such as in the name of the country. All verbs end in either "an", for "active" verbs, "en" for "passive" verbs, and "in" for "mental" verbs.
