The Democratic Republic of GhosvekTal Soda Land is a large, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its civil rights are very good and its economy is very strong, but its political freedoms are below average. The government of the nation is greatly influenced by the GhosvekTal Soda Company. Thus, its government is very strongly pro-business. It is situated on the souteastern side of the island of Hinotashi, to the south of the mainland of Thorin.

Linguistics and Nomenclature

The official language of GhosvekTal Soda Land is the Lugonomekan language. Little is known about this language and its relation to other languages in the region. The nation's name is taken from that of the GhosvekTal Soda Company, which is very influential in the nation's politics. The name roughly means "Taste All" in Lugonomekan. The currency, like that of Lugonomeks and Unleimeks, are named after the currency used in Lugonea, the ancient nation of which all three nations were once part of. However, since the GhosvekTal guloran coin has the same symbol printed the reverse side that is printed on the bottle caps of GhosvekTal Soda bottles, it is often referred to as the bottle cap.

History

Ancient times

The Lugonomeks reached the island of Hinotashi 5000 years before the founding of Thorin (BF). Little is known about what peoples lived on the island before this, but it is believed that the island has been inhabited for as long as ten thousand years before the arrival of the Lugonomeks. In these times, the region was controlled by a large empire called Lugonea, named after Lugon, the legendary hero from whom the Lugonomeks were descended from. The island was largely controlled by two Lugonomek tribes, the Sonyameks and the Shimownomeks. Over time, the Shimownomeks dwindled, and the Sonyameks took control of the whole island. When the Thornichi began to take over the region, many Lugonomeks fled to the island, and from there journeyed overseas. As time went on, the Lugonomek population on the island, and the region in general, dwindled to a very small minority. A few Thornichi followed them onto the island, mostly belonging to a subgroup called the Hino. The Hino were traditionally nomads, and did not establish an organized government for many centuries.

Sonyainsil

Starting around 700 years after the founding of Thorin (AF), Lugonomeks from around the world began to return to their homeland in Thorin. This was especially true on the island of Hinotashi, and by the time of the collapse of the government of Hinotashi, the Lugonomeks made up a majority of the population. They established an unrecognized government called Sonyainsil, which literally means "the island of Sonia". By 786 AF, when the various Lugonomek-controlled areas decided to unite into one region, Sonyainsil controlled the entire north and east coast of the island, as well as two smaller islands off the coast.

Tribal Uprisings and Secession

Starting around 820 AF, the Hino and other tribes in the area began trying to overthrow local government. After eight years of fighting, it seemed as if the they would soon succeed. The local government sent a plea for help to the capital of Lugonomeks, Stadpræst. The government refused to help, saying that it was too expensive and difficult of a campaign to control a region that they never really wanted anyway, especially after just having lost much of their military in the recent Second Thorin War. Desperate, they sent a plea to the president of Lugonomeks, Fred Veshar, asking permission to secede. Veshar agreed, and a new government was formed. Since the GhosvekTal Soda Company owned large amounts of land in the region for plantations from which they harvested their ingredients, they funded the local military and government. After seceding, it appears that the local military has been more successful in putting down the uprisings.

Ethnic Makeup

The majority of the population of GhosvekTal Soda Land is Lugonomek, with the Sonyamek tribe making up 43% of the population, and 19% other tribes. The Thornichi tribe known as the Hino makes up a large minority, at 24% of the population. The remaining 14% is largely made up of unorganized tribes of unknown ethnicity and origin.

Flag

ghosvektal_soda_land.jpg The flag of GhosvekTal Soda Land has the colors red, blue, and gray, which are the national colors of the Hinos. In addition, red and blue are in the flags of most of the Lugonomekan tribes, and is currently on the flag of Lugonomeks. The symbol in the center is the logo of the GhosvekTal Soda company in Hino colors, which features the Lugonomekan letters for Gh and T, the initials of the company's name.
