Geographical information

Macdonvland consists of two islands in the Bibliographic Ocean, in the BookCrossing region. The larger island consists of five provinces, Essex, Maxwell, Montclaire, Columbe, and Newenham. The smaller island is the province of Mann. The landscape of Macdonvland is largely lush, green land, with many forests, and beautiful, clear-blue lakes. The Macdonv Mountain Range stretches southwest for 325 miles from the East coast, and is remarkable for the great hiking trails and fantastic views. Macdonvland National Forest spans the border between the provinces of Essex and Maxwell, and is home to myriad wildlife, including the national animal, the Blue-Footed Booby. The Blue-Footed Booby can be found in all of Macdonvland's forests, but makes its primary home in the National Forest. The country boasts two spectacular beaches. The larger Molly Beach is on the south coast of Columbe province. The smaller, yet equally stunning, Norris Beach is located at the southern cove, straddling the Columbe and Newenham border. Mann is connected to the mainland by an underwater tunnel. The Greater Elizabeth River meanders from the northeastern corner of Maxwell down to the west coast of Columbe. The National Capital is now called Blue Rock Corner, after a national contest to change it from the previous National City.

Climate

Macdonvland has three distinct seasons. In the Spring and Autumn, the temperatures range from a low of 2 or 3 degrees Celcius to a high of 16 degrees Celcius. Summer temperatures are a constant 29 degrees, with virtually no humidity. Year-round, it rains only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and then only in the pre-dawn hours. There are occasionally thundershowers, but they last just 15-20 minutes. Because of Macdonvland's many forests, Autumn is a kaleidoscope of colours when the leaves change. The tree branches do not remain bare for long, just 7-10 days, and then the Spring buds burst forth.

Economy

The large private sector is led by Furniture Restoration, followed by Pizza Delivery, and Door-to-Door Insurance Sales.

Laws

Marriage
Marriage is defined as the joining of two (2) consenting persons, age 18 or older. Same-sex marriage is accepted, and some people have been known to marry housepets. This is not widely encouraged.
Voting
Elections are free and open. The voting age is 18, and voting is mandatory.
Environmental Issues
Industry that negatively impacts on Macdonvland's many forests and its resident creatures is forbidden, and laws are enacted to keep our nation clean, and visually stunning.

Ambassadors and Embassies

Macdonvland's main Embassy, newly christened Three Meadows, is in the National Capital of Blue Rock Corner. This is an expansive complex, housing Macdonvland's own ambassadors and accommodating other nations' ambassadors when they are visiting. The visiting nations wing is an all-suite affair, with the All-Suite Omni Hotels as the inspiration. Wake-up calls are available.

The Diplomatic Uniform is suit jackets, ties, and madras shorts (no shirts). Female Diplomats have the option of additionally wearing tank tops or sports bras, if they wish.

National Library

Located within easy walking distance of the Embassy. Admission is free and the building is open to all citizens. This expansive building has whole floors dedicated, but not limited, to Fiction; Non-Fiction; Reference; Macdonvland Cultural Reference; and Comics. Get Fuzzy is the nationally favourite comic, and half of the Comics floor is reserved for only Get Fuzzy-related items. Macdonveesters can't get enough of Satchel and Bucky. Get Fuzzy merchandise is available in the ground floor Gift Shop, along with various Macdonvland flag-themed items.

Miscellany

A proposal had been advanced in the Macdonvland Senate to change the name of the National Capital. As a result of the voting, the new name of the National Capital is Blue Rock Corner. Three Meadows received a lot of interest, so now the Embassy will officially be known as Three Meadows. And the third top vote-getter, Doubleday, is now the provincial capital of Columbe.
