DOMESTIC AFFAIRS

THE CONSTITUTION

The constitution of Malibu Islands is currently under development. The following nations currently sit on the Constitutional Committee:

  • Samurai Hiko
  • Early Autumn
  • Gruenberg
  • Happy Euphoria
  • Keisuki
  • Kinesrra
  • Pamkhaos
  • Prime Zeus
  • Tenplar
  • Zania Jaarda

In addition to this, elected officials will be expected to contribute to relevant sections of the constitution, whose legality will then be ruled on by the Supreme Court, before being voted on by the Senate.

THE GOVERNMENT

Malibu Islands has recently held elections to appoint government officials.

Election Results

On Sunday, 24th July, 2005, Prime Zeus declared elections open. Voting ended on Thursday, 29th July. All members of Malibu Islands were entitled to vote once in each category. Turnout was an estimated 22%.

  • Prime Zeus was elected President by 8 votes to 2 over Yaziman.
  • Samurai Hiko was elected Vice-President by 6 votes to 5 over Keisuki.
  • Waynetoria was elected UN Delegate by 8 votes to 3 over Happy Euphoria.
  • Zania Jaarda was elected Secretary of State by 7 votes to 2 over Volerian.
  • Periusistan was elected Secretary of Foreign Affairs by 7 votes to 2 over Chaundra.
  • Pamkhaos was elected Secretary of Commerce by 6 votes to 4 over Kinesrra.

In four further categories, nations ran unopposed, and as such automatically gained appointment to government positions. They were:

  • Pasta Land to Secretary of Defence.
  • Happy Euphoria to Secretary of Recruitment.
  • Gruenberg to Press Secretary.
  • Samurai Hiko to Speaker of Nations.

The Cabinet

The Cabinet of Malibu Islands government has now been established:

  • President and Founder: Prime Zeus
  • Vice-President and Speaker of Nations: Samurai Hiko
  • UN Delegate: Waynetoria
  • Secretary of State: Zania Jaarda
  • Secretary of Foreign Affairs: Periusistan
  • Secretary of Commerce: Pamkhaos
  • Secretary of Defence: Pasta Land
  • Secretary of Recruitment: Happy Euphoria
  • Press Secretary: Gruenberg

The Senate

Samurai Hiko, newly appointed Speaker of Nations, has announced the following Senate appointments:

  • Early Autumn (Socialist)
  • Gruenberg (Monarchist)
  • Pasta Land (Monarchist)
  • Prime Zeus
  • Volerian
  • Yaziman (Socialist)

Samurai Hiko has also announced initial proposals for The Malibu Islands Voting System:

  • Each Senator has one vote, they either vote UP, which means they support the proposal or down, which means that are against the proposal.
  • Each Senator, before he/she votes, has the right to talk about how the current proposal will do good to Malibu Islands or will do bad to Malibu Islands.
  • Each Senator has the right to a fillibuster only if he or she has enough supporters to back the fillibuster.
  • Each proposal will stay on the senate floors for 5 or more days so the senators can debates and vote on that proposal.
  • The Speaker of Nations, at the end of the voting, announces either if the proposal passes or not.

Draft proposals assume a two-thirds majority will be required: this will mean 4 of the 6 Senators must support a Bill for it to pass.

The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Malibu Islands will shortly be assembled. At present, the following nations have nominated themselves:

The People's Assembly

The People's Assembly will work on a 'one nation, one vote' basis. All nations will be represented.

POLITICAL PARTIES

Malibu Islands currently has four political parties.

Democratic

Happy Euphoria is Chair of The Malibu Islands Democratic Party. Gephyrophobia is also a member.

Monarchist

Gruenberg is Chair of The Malibu Islands Monarchist Party. Periusistan and Pasta Land are also members.

Republican

Zania Jaarda is Chair of The Malibu Islands Republican Party. Malkster is also a member.

On the 29th July, 2005, Zania Jaarda announced the statement of beliefs of the MIRP: The Republican Party supports capitalism, patriotism, and democracy. We believe in wholesome Christian value. However we also recognize that times are changing and we can or can't take the bible to the extreme. Taxes are for commies and liberals. We also believe in support our chosen leaders whether they are Republican or not. The Army should be big, strong, well equipped, and concentrated in a few places.

Socialist

Yaziman is Chair of The Malibu Islands Socialist Party. Early Autumn and Sabarmomda are also members.

Delegate

Waynetoria was appointed delegate on 22nd July, and confirmed as elected choice a week later. Waynetoria currently has 5 endorsements.
