The Secular Empire of Maraque was founded on the constitutional monarchy system of government. Much like the former United Kingdom, the Secular Empire of Maraque had a President as well as a King. However, the King in this case yielded real power.

The Secular Empire of Maraque has three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary. The legislature is comprised of a tricameral Parliament where all three chambers are directly elected by the people.

The President is limited to two six-year terms consecutively. He may not seek to run for a second term again if his bid for a second term after his first fails.

The Imperial Supreme Court includes a Chief Imperial Justice, and 11 Associate Imperial Justices. Maraque is made up of 11 provinces, three countries', and eight territories. Each country and territory under Maraquean rule recieves full voting rights in Imperial elections like they are a province.

The House of Commons is the lower house of Parliament. Its members are elected by popular vote to serve a single eight-year term. Each province has a different number of representation due to their population. For every 1,000,l000 people they have one, representative, for every 100,000,000 they have 10, and for every 1,000,000,000 they have 100. Thus, the province of Maraque has 339 people in the House of Commons to represent them, but Hamburgh only has 87.

The Senate is the higher house of Parliament. Its members are elected by popular vote to serve a single 12-year term. Each province is entitled to six Senators to represent them, each country is entitled to five, and each territory four. Thus there are 113 Senators in all.

The House of Imperialists are the highest house of Parliament. All members are appointed by the Emperor himself. This special panel of Congress has significant power because they are the only house of Parliament which is authorized to change the constitution. The House of Imperialists has 21 members in all, each from the respective provinces, countries', and territories of Maraque.
