Martentopiano is the capital city of Martentopis, and contains the governemntal buildings, as well as the residence of The Great Dictator. Founded over 1000 years ago by the Marten civilization, it has withstood many attacks and raids, and mainly survived because of it's strategic position at the mouth of the river Martkes. Just outside the city are the bases of the first and fourth army of Martentopis, which cover an area of over 100 square kilometres.

Industry

Martentopiano's industry is mainly focused on services, as well as fishing. The Faroosh fish market covers almost 2 square kilometres.

The Governmental Offices

These spectacular buildings were built about 300 years ago, but have been constantly renovated ever since. The buildings are located in the exact centre of the city, around the Great Army Square. Behind the buildings is the beautiful National Martentopiano Park, filled with an assortment of over 500 different flower spcies. The Governmental offices include:

  • The Parliament Building: this is where the Great Dictator comes to talk to his parliament. On the balcony of this building is also where the dictator holds his speaches after a decision has been passed in the parliament.
  • The Royal Army Building: this building is where the supreme generals of the five armies of Martnetopis come to meet with the Dictator to discuss battle plans or decisions in the parliament involving the army.
  • The Gaurd Quarters: this is the building where the personal body-gaurds of the Great Dictator sleep. In the courtyard there may also sometimes be army practice.
  • The Dictator Quarters: in this building the dictator sleeps when he is holding major conferences, which prevent him the time of getting home. Foreign political visitors also sleep here.
  • The Administrative Building: this is the symbolic building of the administrative section of the government. The real administrative buildings are actually in the buddiness district, though.

The Great Dictator's residence

This massive, beautiful structure was recently built by Martentopis lead architect, Indy Ovetokil, is located just on the edges martentopiano. It has a huge, glass ballroom, and a big aquarium right in the centre to house the dicatators many different types of fish. The residence contains enough bedrooms to house 2 large families, but sadly, the dictator is too busy to look for a girlfriend.

Located a few kilometres away is the First Army Base. This base constantly keeps an eye on the house. The area above the house is a no-fly zone, and for a good purpose. In march, 1997, a foreign plane nearly crashed into the current residence of the Great Dictator. luckily the Dicator was evacuated in time, or the country would surely be in turmoil right now.

No robber has ever tried tried to break into the mansion.

The Bussiness District

This area of town, situated directly next to the harbour district, is home to Martentopis's largest organizations. The Martentopis Architect Association (MAA) stay in the highest tower in the city (second-highest in the country next to the Third Army Military Tower), MAA Sunlight Tower, which is over 300 metres tall.

Most foreign residents live here too. The tiny Maraque-Town, covers 5 streets. It houses almost only Maraquens (10% of them work for the Maraquen embassy).

Other Sites of Interest

A famous landmark in Martentopiano is the Marten Museum. It honors the ancient Marten civilisation, which founded Martentopis. The Museum was built in 1840, under Dictator Kolf Densork, who took the initiative thet by educating the public about the nation's great history, more people would join the army. Another landmark in the city is the Coffee Sorting building, a large building built in 1510, when Martnetopis was rising as a trade power. For centuries long, the Coffex Company sorted coffe in the building, untill it went bankrupt in 1932. The Coffee Sorting building is now a cinema, and part of it is a hotel.
