Geography
Mensalia is a tropical country with surprisingly low humidity. The fruit-growing industry is very strong. Mensalia is the home to the Mensalia Mountains, a mountain range of around 10,000 feet that is popular with climbers.
Government
Mensalia has a combination democracy-republic government, consisting of three branches.
Legislative Branch
In order for a law to be passed in the legislative branch, it must pass through three houses.
House of Delegates
This is the direct representative of the people. It proposes laws and passes them.
House of Citizens
This is the referenda via the people. It approves laws from the HoD, and can also propose laws.
House of Elders
This only acts if there is not an agreement between the two other houses, it breaks ties.
Executive Branch
The Executive Branch is led by the Director of National Affairs. He takes care of publications, foreign affairs, etc. Under him are the Undersecretaries of Natural Resources and Features, Defense, and Ambassadorial Affiars, among others.
Judicial Branch
A court system headed by the High Court of 15 justices elected to 12 year terms.

No, not military intellegence; according to Mensalia's pacifist beliefs, that's an oxymoron. Mensalia's education system is very powerful, with free education all the way up to doctorate. Mensalia believes that smart people make smart decisions, so it makes a great effort to educate children to be leaders in the future.

Language
Mensalians are required to be fluent in English and Russian. Mensalia believes that a unique national language would be detrimental to foreign affairs.
Culture
Political Ideolology
Mensalia is a fairly left-wing country, and has recently been designated by the UN as a Civil Rights Lovefest. The people believe that government should regulate business and provide services, but try to avoid regulating people, what they read, or what they write without compelling reason.
Religion
Mensalia is predominantly Christian.
Traditions
Before Christianity was spread to Mensalia, some residents worshipped in accordance with Kodorism, a religion similar to Native American beliefs. It involved thousands of gods for different animals. Kodorism has passed down some rich traditions, including the sun and rain dances, as well as the tradition of clapping three times behind your back before starting a fire. It was believed that this would deter evil spirits from attacking you from behind and pushing you into the fire. Although no Mensalians really believe this, they still clap three times behind their back just out of habit, or superstition, or whatever.
