Mokastana

The nation of Mokastana is a large, politically unstable nation. Mainly rulers, be they presidents or dictators usually don't make it past the five year mark. Most noticeably was The rule of Field Marshall Franco Martinez, who lead Mokastana to off the island and to conquest barren and remotely occupied territories for Mokan use. While the six months after the conquest no major battles have occurred it still brings a lot of tension to to the nation. In response to it Nicolas Villa helped form a confederacy which currently rules the regions of Mokastana.

Militias and Armed Terrorist

Montana Cartel: The first drug lord operation, the ruling Cartel of all South America producing 850 Kg of cocaine daily for world consumption. Not to mention this cartel houses numerous factories and research centers for new drugs. Over 3 Billion dollars of drugs are exported every year. The government gets a piece of the profit and citizens look the other way. Leader: Antonio Montana

Gonzalez’s Cartel: Ruling cartel for Central America. Currently produces 600Kg daily, however with the central american Governments cracking down Gonzalez's operation is getting strained.

Sanchez's Riders: In the northern reaches of the Mejico region a rogue army rapes and pillages in the name of the "revolution," the leaders claim that it is bad publicity's and propaganda. The current Government in Mejico is giving minimal effort in hunting them down. Leader: Generalissimo Sanchez

Anarquía: A small anarchist cell on the main island that has explained to the other islands and even to the Peruvian sector. Thier goal is overthrow of the government. That and only that. Known leader: Emililio Sanchez

History (pre-international)

Mokastana started out as a large Caribbean Island, while much of the history before Alex Zapata's Unification is lost there is enough to asume what happened. In about 1400 the island had dozens of different warlords vying for control, it is believed Columbus had landed on Mokastana but there is not real evidence to back that up, but the rumors say that he landed when the Viraxia tribe was being overran and fled the island. In 1689 British colonial forces landed and fought against the remaining warlords, which is assumed to be between 12 and 15 at that time. The British exterminated most of the warlords but three remaining ones had formed an Alliance, calling themselves "pale's terror" they ransacked and killed many colonist, forcing the British to flee after 12 years of war. During the war one of the warlords had been captured and after the exodus of British forces the two remaining warlords began to fight. The island civil war lead to the remaining indigenous population to over through the warlords and they eventually returned to a tribal lifestyle. In 1790 The Spanish Empire had landed and quickly claimed the island for themselves. The locals had long forgotten their history of violent fighting and quickly was assumed into the Spanish empire. However in 1810 the island joined with Mexican Forces and rebelled against the spanish crown. This period became known as La viva Mexicana or in local dialect, The Mexican Life, the locals and Mexicans reproduced the race today known as Moka's of the island Mokostan, as it was formally known as.

Unfortunately the Mexican instability of governments quickly turned the small nation into a death trap of political turmoil. Mokostan signed there independence in 1856 to try and escape the chaos of Mexico. Unfortunately many Moka's wished to remain Mexican and rebelled against this new government,starting the Mexican-Mokastan war.

The war ended in 1864 when Mexico, after losing many men to Guerrilla tactics gave them there independence. Imminently the western portion declared independence from the Mokan Government. The First Mokostan civil war began, eventually leading many landowners to arm themselves against either faction. Soon the landowners and farmers formed the "People's Defensive Army" under the leadership of Alex Zapata. With growing support and constant attacks by either government Alex Eventually overthrew both governments and formed the first republic of Mokostan in 1872.

The republic swore to keep foreigners out and remain isolated. This government survived until 1906 when the first military coup occurred. This lead to many governments and regimes until 1936 when General Wata opened the borders to allow many Russian refugees escaping Stalin's Reign of terror. General Wata formed the third Republic of Mokostan and Ruled until 1943.

When another period of Political instability rose. In 1996 the current dictator in power was assassinated leading to many of his aides to war between each other for the power over the island. In this Civil war the first few corporations of Mokostan formed the Mokostan Army of United Corporations (MAUC) to protect their interest. Soon after in 1998 the Mokostan's People's Army MPA, was formed by a Teacher/Socialist named Miguel Zapata, who is believed to be a descendant of Alex Zapata. IN 2001 MAUC and the MPA were the only factions left, so they both signed the Agreement of St. Alvido promising peace between the two governments and democracy for everyone on the island. The northwestern was to be called Mokastan and the southern Mokastana

History (post-international)

In 2006 Field Marshall Anthony Durkin lead a coup against the Republic of Mokastan and invaded the south claiming was going to “free Mokostan of the weak conservatives and evil leftist.” However after much international support FM Durkin was overthrown and the republic of Mokastana assumed the Island. Which was renamed the Sovereign Socialist Nation of Mokastana.

However peace was not held due to major insurgency problem, when the presidents’ flight was shot down he ordered martial law and civil unrest lead to civil war. During the civil war Mokastana was protecting thier interest on the island of Hexon which resulting in an attack by Kroando. For the extent of this war a socailist military junta was formed under the leadership of Generalissimo Jorge Gonzalez. The naval war cost approximatively of 1/4 of the standing navy at the time and the island of Juventud, which many Mokans still want to reclaim. Soon after the public disowned the socialist government for surrendering and not offering protection against outside threats. The socailist government stepped down resulting in the coup of Generalissimo Franco Martinez. Under Martinez Mokastana reconquered Mexico and central and northern South America. Of course during his regime numerous political opponents were killed and disappeared but after 14 months of his rule the former Foreign Relations Adviser

Regions

Mejico: The main body of Modern Mokastana(RL: mexico, down to panama), most is barren farmland and small communities. While the vast majority of the Mejico region prefers to be left alone a few radicals roam and fight for their beliefs. Overall they are a very social-anarchist community. As long as the government doesn't interfere with their lives they don't mind.

Sub-Government: Democratic Socialist Republic Ruling Party: Servant party Idealogical standpoint: the government is only to serve and protect, not dictate

Sur: The southern most region of Mokastana(RL: Peru, Ecuador, and every nation above Brazil), Jungle for the most part. Locals live either in the major cities or along the coast line. Few Towns exist outside of major Cities, mainly due to lack of protection against drug cartels and small terrorist organizations. The most famous Cartel is Montana Inc. who rules the region economically. Nothing can get in or out without Antonio Montana's approval.

Mokan Island:The main island(RL: Cuba) of Mokastana. The Island where the nation originated. It wasn't until after Martinez conquered the rest of the nation that the island was really unified. Now it is the political capital of the Mokan Nation.

Tierra Nueva: The nothern part of Mokastana, annex during the war in Mejico, one of the two regions willing to join the Mokastana Empire when it formed. (RL: Florida, southern states, part of Texas) Most people are indifferent to international politics and willing to fight, a bad combination.
