Monarchy in Skatval
The monarchy in Skatval was founded in 1201, in Skatval's first period of independence. The monarchy was refounded in 1996, and Erik I. of Skatval was crowned by Bishop Josef Kristensen.
1. period
Skatval was formed by Haraldr Gulaagre in 1201, and he decleared himself as king. Most of the people was happy with Harold (Haraldr's English name). Skatval had a long period of peace during Harold I.'s period as king. Harold died in 1243, and was followed by his son, Olav.
When Olav I. took over the throne, Skatval was attacked by enemies along the north-eastern borders. Olav managed the attacks, and Skatval remained independent.
The Gulaagre-Ancestry ruled untill 1343, when Magnus I. died by a plague; The Black Death.
The Gulaagres was followed by a mighty ally of themselves; The Fljoðar-Ancestry. The Fljoðars ruled Skatval untill 1456, when a huge attack by Skatval-Brandenburg defeated Skatval. The Fljoðars was killed, and was replaced by The Brandenburgers, the ancestry which Skatval-Brandenburg is named after.
2. period
After a short guerilla warfare in rural areas of Skatval, Skatval-Brandenburg gave Skatval independence. A council of the wisest men in Skatval was appointed, and this council ruled untill 1996, when the monarchy was refounded. After a DNA-search, Erik Hallgrimssón was appointed as the new king. His surname came from Skatval-Brandenburg, however, the his ancenstry came from Skatval. The Hallgrimssón-Ancestry was the oldest ancestry in the whole country, and it's ancestor was Olav I.'s younger brother; Inge the Wise. Today, 96% of the people says that they're happy with the current monarchy. The new monarchy doesn't have political power as in the 1. period.
