The Basics
Monkey Island is an open region that places an emphasis on respect and individual freedoms. We open our arms to all nations that wish to join us, and encourage everyone to join us on the off-site board. Here in Monkey Island you are free to do whatever you like, as long as you're nice about it.
Monkey Island has been a part of NationStates, for well over a year and has a wide and varied history.
The Constitution
Official Language: English
Government: The government of Monkey Island is a consensus government. Pure democracy is the most often used form of this. The UN Delegate are allowed to approve proposals based on his or her own judgement. For various resolutions, the Delegate will vote according to popular opinion of those within Monkey Island.
Conduct: All members of Monkey Island are to be polite to one another. This is a standard rule. For a long time the only rule of Monkey Island has been "You can do whatever you like, as long as you are polite about it". This law has changed with the setting down of these rules, but the esseintial structure remains. Monkey Island is a place where no one should be persecuted or ridiculed for their individual beliefs. Violators of this rule will be warned and then dealt with more severely by the Delegate and/or Founder and/or Ombudsman Council of the time.

Thanksmonkey: The day after the 4th Thursday in November. A celebration giving thanks for all of the people and ideas that are a part of Monkey Island, the new and the old, since the beginning.
