Murth has not always been a government. For it all started with the city state of Muha Mur which was funded in 637 BCE. After numerous wars with neighbouring city states Muha Mur was in control of a large expanse of land. It was then, in 153 BCE that the Empire of Murth was founded.
The Empire of Murth takes in several cultures, these cultures are Murthians, Oasians, Kellians, and Guineans. These cultures have not always gotten on peacefully and Murth was nearly disbanded in the civil wars between 138 BCE - 255 CE. These civil wars were only stopped, and the country united by the coallition against the Kellians in 248 CE which was caused by the genocide committed by the Kellians against the Guineans in 247 CE. Due to this genocide the Guineans are considered a small minority with a ratio of 1 in ten thousand.
Later on in 1000 CE Murth was made into a democracy and stayed as one until 2004 when it was made into a police state to fight a terroist threat by The Happy Lands of Happiness.
On the 7th of July 2004 Murth broke into two sides during the long and bloody Murthian civil war. These two sides were known as "The Federal Government of Murth" controlled by the former Murthian government and the rebel faction was known as "The People Republic of Murth." The Federal Government naturally won due to it controlling the bulk of the military and the fact that it had no moral restrictions. During the civil war the city that had become the capital of the Republic: Hellivan, was bombed relentlessly by the Federal Government with Chemical, Biological and Nuclear weapons until nothing left of the capital. The war itself costed Murth around a billion deaths. Less than a half of these were from the Federal Government and even then the majority was in their military with around 360 million military casualites. The Republic ended up with around 400 million civilians dead and 100 million soldiers dead. The Republic however only controlled 100 million soldiers and was expecting a quick and peaceful succession from the Federal Government. The reason that the Republic lost all of it's soldier was because although the Federal Government told soldier that if they surrendered they would be well looked after the truth was that they were sent to death camps with a 100% mortality rate.
After the war mostly all of the Republic returned to Federal Government control apart from a small province know as "Murthopia." Murthopia however was a small overseas province which had sided with the Republic and the Federal Government saw no point in taking it back, but instead chose to run countless bombing runs into the country so as to prove to other provinces that succession from Murth is not an option.
