Mutual Defense Pact
The Mutual Defence Pact is a military organisation in The Lexicon. It emerged as one of the two victorious powers from The Great Lexicon War, after this followed a period of great power. However inactivity, the feeling amongst members that the treaty tied them down and a waning of power have caused the alliance to drop to a state of virtual non-existence.

Foundation
Founded on April 4th 2006 the MDP was initially a fairly informal alliance between Chokingvictim, Baltija and Bustos-21. However as time went by MDP found it's niche in the market of international treaty organisations. This was because while The Pan-Lexicon Treaty Organization catered for leftist and compassionate views and the LSP to overtly imperialistic capitalism the MDP was seen as fertile ground for nations seeking something more capitalistic but less outspoken, the LSP were seen as war mongerers and PLTO were often seen as 'Commie huggers'. Such nations as Acle and King Rat had soon joined the MDP ranks.

The Great Lexicon war was triggered by the founding of the LSP. MDP sat on the sidelines for some time, openly supporting the PLTO but offering little in the way of material support. As events transpired however MDP betrayed PLTO and sided with the LSP to inflict a crushing blow upon PLTO, re-defining borders and representing a significant shift in power to the Lexiconian capitalists. During the conflict The Myrorian colony of Marcica was occupied by Bustian forces. Gallipoli-China, Tillia and Of the US all jumped ship from PLTO and joined the MDP during this period.

To the victorious MDP nations following the Twenty-one-convention it must have felt like they now were sitting at the head of a great alliance. However it could be said that the acceptance of the former PLTO member de-stabilised the alliance. After the war King Rat left the organisation citing differing values. After Gallipoli-China, tied down by heavy MDP regulations jumped ship, closely followed by Acle a severe blow to MDP power was dealt. Eventually the remaining powers, all tied down left the MDP, Baltija left as the alliance became heavily inactive, soon followed by Bustos-21.

The alliance today
Today the alliance is essentially considered defunct. Classified as a minor power. Of the three remaining members Oranta and ChokingVictim have dropped into anarchy and Tillia have adopted an isolationist policy.
