Overview and Brief History
Myrnama, Officially The Kingdom of Myrnama is an island nation located within the 100,000 islands region. Myrnama is a fairly new country only becoming populated in the last half of the 20th century. It was officially declared a country on the 12th of July 2007 and here thereafter every 12th of July will be known as Myrnama Day.
Politics
Myrnama is formally a democratic republic and was headed by a President who was only allowed one term spanning a total of 5 years. The President had the final say on all decisions made by the country however often his cabinet will make decisions based upon a overall majority and or the will of the people.
However this has changed with the reinstatement of a monarchy, the former President King Paul I was chosen to be King with a Chancellor below him. The government’s shape hasn’t changed much except for the approval of a King. The offices can’t be combined and the people can still vote in a new chancellor, the role of the King is to remain neutral in political decisions but to act as a head of state.
Ethnicity
Myrnamese people are a mix of Anglo-Italian immigrants who have pulled together to make the country recognised. Myrnama has two official languages; Italian and English. Most citizens speak both fluently.
Geography
The Country is a mix of low laying land in the south and east to the rocky mountainous region of the North and West. In recent times the country has become heavily populated and the landscape has become barren in places.
Myrnama has two major cities, Felicia on the North West coast and Southport in the South west. The east coast is made up of small cities and towns which populate the region.
Economy
The Myrnamese dollar is the currency for Myrnama and the average income tax rate is 36% at current rates.
Military and defence
The MDA (Myrnama defence Army) is a small army used for peace keeping and defence of the country, it is made up of volunteers and in times of emergency the police and other service personal are required to bolster the MDA.
