The People's Republic is the smallest nation which formed from the sprawling mass that was once part of the Hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy publishing office. The nation, despite it's size, is the second most powerful and the most regarded since it's UN backed.
Politics
Politically speaking, the Republic is facing a civil war. The Civil service and the Elected Government can never agree on any legislation or representation, however both are willing to pull together to get rid of all forms of capitalism. The Government holds elections more or less everyweek, the People's President is elected by the 865 MPs who each represent one million people. At the moment the Liberal Democrates are in power with the Social Democrates in opposition.
The Civil service, on the other hand, is more clear cut. The Permanent secretary is replaced each time the former one retires. The Permanent Under-secretaries have to complete for the job by writing wordy essays and normally takes a team of people a year to read each report. The current Permanent secretary got into the Guiness Book of Records for the length of his dossier.
The constitution on the other hand is brief, there are only two amendants:
- The right to life
- The right to participate in Industrial Action
