Red Colony is named for and operated by Commonwealth Transit, a private company.
Government
The Commonwealth is a Capitalist Paradise. Domestic matters are handled by an elected Senate, while foreign policies are handled by an elected Chancellor. Corporations often exercise extreme political power. This is countered by laws which only allow citizens unaffiliated with the corporations to run for office. Possibly the only thing saving the Commonwealth from itself is the extreme nationalism of its people.
Military
The Commonwealth Military Contract is a collection of government contracted private companies which defend the nation. There are 2 main fleet. One protects Commonwealth assets in Sol. The other explores and acts as a trade fleet. The commonwealth specializes in non-lethal weaponry. This ranges from large-scale energy dampeners to small arms to stun or otherwise incapacitate opponents. All Commonwealth soldiers are Axa. All ship and fleet commanders are Nephtali.
General Labor Inc. is a Private Military Contractor (PMC) responsible for the Commonwealth's Axa soldiers. Oleander Drive Yards is another PMC which provides ships for the Commonwealth's Fleets.

Industry & the Slave-Trade
the commonwealth is renowned for its slave-trade. Most companies sell genetically engineered slaves of various kinds, however there is a darker side to the slave trade which includes preying on transport ships for new DNA and/or unengineered slaves. The Nephtali are accomplished geneticists, and have created their own servant species, the fanatically loyal Axa.

The Commonwealth of Nephtali can be described as a mix between Future and Post-Modern Tech. Space-travel and Genetic Engineering are future-tech. However, most everything else is post-modern.
