The Commonwealth of New Amargosa is a small, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its burgeoning manitee population. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 7 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The medium-sized government concentrates mainly on Defence, although Education and Healthcare are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 18%. A large private sector is led by the Basket Weaving industry, followed by Information Technology and Furniture Restoration.
Voting is voluntary and military spending is on the increase. Crime is moderate. New Amargosa's national animal is the manitee and its currency is the New Amargosan Credit.
