New Britianite

The Empire of New Britianites is a nation biased off of fear. The government is lead by an Emperor and a Senate. The Senate has almost no power in the official government and is filled with corruption. The Emperor holds all the power and makes all the important decisions. The Empire of New Britianites is located in the region of NGPV.

History

The history of the New Britianites is one of bloody conquest and persecution. The Britianites removed themselves from British society it 937ad when Athelstan, son of Edward the Elder, defeated an alliance of Scots, Celts, Danes, and Vikings, and proclaimed himself "King of all Britain". The New Britianites then changed the spelling of their culture from “Britain” to “Britianite”. They did not proclaim themselves a new country for hundreds of years, but remained a separate cultural group in the midst of British society.

The New Britianites were led by a man named Brent Edmund II. By 940 Brent had a following that numbered in the hundreds. The New Britianites did not cope well with other factions in the society. And though Athelstan and his sons tried to keep all the peoples in peace with one another, violence quickly erupted. The initial reason for fighting was religious beliefs. The New Britianites have no religious affiliation because they believe that the church is corrupt. The New Britianites were mainly peasants and therefore did not stand up well in combat. The New Britianites were public humiliated and looked down upon by the Britain peoples. It became very hard for anyone with Britianite ties to find a job or get decent pay. Eventually Brent Edmund II went directly to the King to ask for his support. The King rejected him outright and Brent uttered the words “Your family will regret the day that you have banished us to death!” as he was taken from the King’s estate. The New Britianites then vanished in 950 and did not turn up for another few hundred years.

The next time anyone hears from a New Britianite was around 1300ad. A peasant said he saw “hundreds of men clad in black armor, coming from the northern border of England and heading to the South West.” Also he mentions that the man that led the large group stopped in front of him and asked if he could have some water. The peasant says after he gave the man some water the man said, “Thank you very much kind sir, you will be rewarded for you good deeds to the Britianites.” Then the man clad in black handed him 100 shillings, equal to five pounds in that time and roughly equal to anywhere from 1000 pounds to 10,000 pounds, the exact amount is unknown. The man then joined in his men and they went on.

After that they were not heard of again until 1530, three years before the creation of the Church of England and the Protestant faith. The New Britianites brought death and destruction where ever they went. They are said to have numbered in the thousands, even tens of thousands by some accounts. They destroyed villages from the north of England, all the way down to Wessex, in the south of England. The King at the time, King Henry VIII sent out the army to stop the Britianites. The Britianites did not want a full scale war with the British, so they sent a list of demands to the King. These demands are known now as “The Inquirment”, the document requested that the King tell them where the family of Athelstan, the first King of Britain, and his sons were, and in return the Britianites would pay for the damages they had caused and leave the British Isles. The King, upon receiving this, sent out a messenger to the house of the living descendents of Athelstan to warn them of that would await them and told them to remove themselves from their current residence. Then the King sent a message back to the Britianites and their leader, which no information is known about. But the message never reached the Britianites, they had already left, but in their place sat hundreds of thousands of gold pieces and a message to the King, which was attached to the dismembered head of the messenger he had sent out. The message warned the King of the impending doom of his country and the flaws that its political system held. The King then dispatched 100 troops to each of the five living descendents of Athelstan. But when the troops got to each estate, all they found were ashes and skeletons. The prophecy uttered by Brent Edmund II had been fulfilled.

The Britianites then launched a brutal campaign against any foreign power that stood in their way. As the Kings of England soon realised, their government would not survive without the aid of the Britianites. So in 1689, the year that Parliament was supposed to pass the Bill of Rights, The Kings of England secretly surrendered their power to the Britianite leader at the time, Lyndon Randal VII, who began to pay off Parliament members and many other officials in the government. He also began to rig elections to get people who supported him into office, even though he did not have any power yet. In 1695 he finally put his plan in action. In a public event, he had his elite guard enter Parliament and execute anyone who did not support him, at the same time he had the king step down and Lyndon declared himself “Emperor of the New Britianites”. A great purge occurred in 1700 throughout all the Britianite Empire, which spanned the entire British Isles. In this great purge, also known as “The Cleansing”, tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of people were brutally slaughtered in large public demonstrations throughout the Empire. The exact details about The Cleansing are unknown as there were no records kept by the government.

The Empire of New Britianites flourished in the 18th century due to its very low crime rate, excellent military service and naval service, and its schooling system. It was said that during this time “The sun never set on the Britianite Empire”. As with all empires, this one had its good rulers and its bad rulers. Little changed in the empire from the 18th to the 19th century. In the early 20th century though, the country was rocked at its very foundation.

In 1899 Lyndon Randal XXII was appointed Emperor. He ruled with the iron fist as his ancestor Lyndon Randal VII did. In 1910, he did something the country would take almost a hundred years to recover from. He began the second “Cleansing”. He executed hundreds of government officials who he believed were going to betray him. He then had over 3 million of his people publicly executed and it is said that his secret police murdered at least another half million. The many colonies that the Empire controlled rebelled against the Emperor along with most of the remaining Britianites. Believing that his military generals would betray him he had all of them executed and appointed lower ranking military personnel whom he knew were loyal to him to their positions. One General though survived this purge.

The direct descendent of Brent Edmund II, the founder of the Britianites, Brent Edmund XXXXVI, though he was only known as Brent Edmund. He united the people of the Empire under his rule and together after 15 years of bloody warfare, they destroyed what remained of the government. Before reaching Lyndon Randal XXII, he killed himself in his private quarters. His family was not spared. His wife, daughter and son were all publicly executed. Then Brent Edmund declared that this was the end of this kind of tyranny. He began putting together the government his ancestors had tried to create.

Now in the beginning of the 21st century the government is just returning to its former glory. The government is once again an Empire, but it now has a Senate. The Senate has no real power in the actual say of things though.

Religion

As previously stated the Britianites have no religious affiliation. They do however worship the body of Brent Edmund as their savior from impending doom.

Economy

The economy of the Empire is returning to it's once former glory. The empire has no valuable resources that are public information.

Politics

The government is controlled by an Emperor who chooses a successor to replace him, and a Senate that is elected by the people. Many believe that these elections are rigged by the Emperor himself. The Senate has very little power and is mainly just for show. There is a secret police force that operates directly under the Emperor and takes anyone who shows signs of betraying the empire. There are almost no civil rights at this time for the people.
