General History

New Cyprus is a land of many opprotunities. There is 100 States (and numerous territories) in New Cyprus. New Cyprus has had a full and vibrant history full of wars, and now, a permanent peace.

New Cyprus was founded before there was a time known to the citizens of New Cyprus. The best guess of where the current descendants came from is Azarka (today it is known as North Historic Cyprus. New Cyprus has been controlled by many and been cherished by (for the most part) everyone.

Today NS is advancing at an astonishing rate as the population soars up, and the freedoms people excersize also shoot up as the government becomes more and more willing to let people decide what they wish to do with their own lives.

An Evolving Government

When first founded, New Cyprus was a territory of Azarka. But something similar to an ice age followed by a series of earthquakes cut off the communications between Azarka (which during this time evolved into North Historic Cyprus). The people of Cypitti, Azarka Territory were worried of what would bestow their little country if they didn't take matters of government into their own hands.

When Cypitti first started the government had a "President" and "Vice-President" figure head. This was at a time when only 300 people were part of Cypitti.

Conquest and Conquering

Cypittians, whether they liked it or not, were evolving into a war-like nation whom conquered territories and nations after nations. Especfially after the ice age ended most of the new known area was conquered by the Cypitti. The people were nice though and allowed each captured nation to remain its own government. Soon they decided a merger was neccesary, they chose New Cyprus to fit the nation.

War Leads to Military Coup

The system of government was an excellent one. There was no attention paid to anything other than the government itself, the economy, and military. Soon though, a military coup took the government. They counquered all places, including the capital city of Supuru City. The only area they hadn't conquered was Cyp Hills Village, Cyp Hills, New Cyprus and the surrounding woods (totaling 4,810 square kilometers). Refugees from the inner parts of the nation flooded into Cyp Hills Village. Over three weeks the population soared from 12,348 to 167,533. And within three months the population was at 1,536,734 people. In five years after the start the population reached 103,533,647 people. The people of the new independent nation of Cyp Hills (which was recognized as the true government of New Cyprus) finally started to fight back against the dictatorship. The city of Cyp Hills was unable to house all these new refugees, and they bordered no other territory than the land controlled by the corrupted coup. The nations of Kyz and South Ara, good allies of New Cyprus, were quick to send in supplies to aid the nation during this trying time. Kyz, whom had already established a less military-focused democracy, and South Ara whom was a growing military superpower together helped Cyp Hills City and the surrounding people reclaim their land.

To the Victor Goes the Banning of Spoils

Within 5 years, the twenty-nine years of terror was over. Of course, the new New Cyprus government disbanded all military, banned all alcohol, sharp objects without permits, and took measures to ensure this never happened again. In fact, suddenly education, the environment, and social equality spending reached an all-time high. And the new capital was moved from Supuru City to Cyp Hills City, Cyp Hills, New Cyprus (which had gained a permanent population of 113,530,532). (Supuru City still had the largest population with 176,353,644 people).

Colonies and Territories

New Cyprus has gained many colonies and territories through offering aid and political stability without the use of a military. The list is always growing and some of the colonies have grown into nation-like groupings, but still remain a colony or territory.

Arbor Woods

The colony of Arbor Woods is a large and industrial colony of New Cyprus. The area was once in turmoil of Civil War and a threat of an invasion from communist North Ara. New Cyprus immediately stepped into Arbor Woods to restore peace and prevent a North Aranian invasion. Arbor Woods today boasts a population of 2.76 billion people and shows no signs of stopping. Arbor Woods is located in a temperate climate with an abundance of woods protected by New Cyprus law as a national forest. Many people of Arbor Woods trace their roots back to New Cyprus and continue to enjoy their relations with their homeland.

Apache Junction

The territorial city of Apache Junction has grown into the most compact territory or colony of New Cyprus in the sense that there is an unusually high number of people living in each square kilometer of the city limits. 83% of Apache Junction's land is that of the city of Apache Junction. 2% is rural (in the sense of parkland or drastically reduced number of people per square kilometer). The other 15% of the land is in other suburbs or cities. Apache Junction boasts a population of 1.448 billion people today.

Climate and Environment

New Cyprus is known throughout the world for its climate and environment. The climate of New Cyprus in Greater Nova York is tropic, although the actual area of New Cyprus is large and varies from arctic to desert to frequent floods and hurricanes. This section will focus on the Greater Nova York version of New Cyprus.

Climate

New Cyprus has a tropical climate. There is an isolated area of hot, arid desert along with an area of monsoonal rains. New Cyprus commonly experiences year round temperatures in the 70s with occasional reaches into the 100s during extremely hot summers and the lower 60s during the cooler winters. The small mountain range commonly gets below zero during the winter months and two mountains on the island in Greater Nova York are almost always snowcapped. The two mountains are Mount Supuru and Mount Iona. Along with mountains certain severe weather tends to occur each year.

Mount Supuru

Mount Supuru has never been recorded to not have a snow capped summit. It is a common resort area and is protected by federal laws to ensure that no damage is done to its fragile environment. Mount Supuru stands at a breathtaking 47,000 feet and can be seen from the distant bays and near-by coastline as a monument of nature. Mount Supuru experiences frequent mudslides on its northern side in spring and summer when the summit slightly shrinks. As an effect of the mudslides, the northern side is so steep that people are banned from living on it and aren't allowed to travel on, or near it, in the Spring and Summer months.

Mount Iona

Mount Iona has almost always had a snowcapped summit. There was an incident during an unusually warm summer and extremely warm winter where in 2002-2003 it was snowless. Mount Iona has since be added to protection with federal laws and the only way up to the top is by two roads or a government transportation system. The top of Mount Iona has numerous observatories and star gazing stations.

Severe Thunderstorms and Blizzards

Severe thunderstorms by themselves is a rarity on New Cyprus. Tornados are also a rarity unless associated with a hurricane, otherwise New Cyprus is fairly safe and sound. Blizzards are rare except for where lake effect snow takes place on the northeast side of Lake Supuru and where heavy mountain snows occur.
