New Rantar is the capital city of the Unicratic Republic of Ivorila, located along the shoreline of the New Rantar state in the north of the country. The city, though capital, only comprises of 5.9 million people, significantly less than rival city Rekharvy. The city is often described as "where urban meets suburban", due to a wide variety of housing options in urban areas (refered to as "The City") with a majority of the populace living in the suburbs. It is often noted that the city, especially the newer areas, is balanced in a precarious position of growth - most suburban expansion occurs in the nearby mountains.
New Rantar is a popular tourist destination, especially in winter, although it is popular year round. The tourism industry is the fastest growing area in the city, and nearly 14% of the city's budget comes from tourism-related business. As a regular travel destination, it suffers from isolation from international neighbours - it is rare to find somebody just passing through the city to another destination, unless it is another Ivorilan city.
