New South Mars is a massive state primarily consisting green, rolling hills, pristine beaches, ancient historical monuments and artifacts, large secret military complexes, which “do not exist,” and large urban areas. Most commercial and industrial activity revolves around a few massive and interconnected urban areas with small unknown townships scattered around the country that address regional needs. In the North is New South Mars's capital and largest city, New Springfield; its population estimates vary widely due to the challenges of taking a census of such a large population in such a vast area. Because of this large and diverse population, New Springfieldians tend to associate themselves more closely to a specific neighborhood or village than to the greater metro area of New Springfield itself.
The rest of NSM’s vast population is scattered across the rest of NSM's country side in smaller although they often have populations of several million, agricultural communities and factory towns and despite their large numbers and fierce nationalism, pride, and loyalty to the state, for some reason, they go largely unrecognized.
New South Mars is a relatively old nation that has held power since the warlord's were united under a single government led by Peewee the Great, his statue stands in capitol park in New Springfield and is rarely seen because of the nearly constant restoration.
The original name for New South Mars was extremely long and complex; it was lost in ancient history and archeologist frantically looking to rediscover it. For the past 200 years title of the active leader has been "The Supreme Grand Caretaker of the Imminently Rediscoverable Leadership Title of the Democratic Republic of the Enlightened Dropouts of New South Mars." Thus, showing that the lesson of keeping leadership titles is presumably lost on the people of New South Mars.
Unril recently, the acting Supreme Grand Caretaker of the Imminently Rediscoverable Leadership Title of the Democratic Republic of the Enlightened Dropouts of New South Mars was Andrew Lord Webfoot. After great corruption was discovered and widely pubnlicised to be occuring within his regime, his government was toppled in a bloody but popular coupe. The current government ruling NSM, the New People's Republic of New South Mars, is headed by Chief Pascale, with the noptably short title of "Chief." The New Government promises to restore order to the crime ridden territories and end the ubiquitous corruption that plauged the last government.
