Government
The Republic of Northeast US is a federal republic that is represented by a President and a bicameral legislature. The President is elected to a five year term through a two round voting system unless one leader gains more than 50% of the vote. The Vice President is elected along with the President and would take over if something happened to the President.
The Senate is comprised of 75 members and a 2/3 vote is needed to approve of a President Pro Temp.
The House of Representatives is comprised of 275 members of various political parties. A coalition is needed for a speaker to be elected and controls the debate. He is also the third in line for the President.
Economics
The nation is economicly sound as they continue to maintain a balanced budget. This is subscribed into their constitution. The budget is small but it is constently growing. The economic situation in the nation currently is Good.

The states that made up the North East were no exception. When PA and NY formed their alliance, many states in the surrounding region were not happy. Over the course of the next five years after the PA/NY Alliance, New Jersey joined and it became the Northeast Confederation. In response, Maine and her surrounding states quickly formed the Maine Confederacy. Over the course of several years, there was severe tension between the two alliances and when Delaware joined the Confederation, they changed their name to the Republic of Northeast US.
