Overview

The Loose City-State Association of Nova Britannicus is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 55%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Cheese Exports industries.

Retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, the Nova Britannicus Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise, citizens are expected to be proficient in at least five languages (of which Nova_Britannicus_Rhyming_Slang is not one), and murderers frequently escape punishment by claiming they were protecting their honour. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nova Britannicus's national animal is the Navy-Bluebird, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Pound Sterling.

The City-States

There are six city-states in N.B., generally these are huge shining Metropolises surrounded by millions of acres of wide-open plains, with nothing but farms and roads to connect them.

  • Beverington

The eastern-most City-State, Beverington is known for its airship manufacturers and general crazy scientist population who invent all manner of weird things. The Beverington Hawks are the city's Football team, playing in black with red and yellow trim.

  • Foxchester

Jet Fighters and aerial power are the order of the day in Foxchester, notorious for its macho, laid-back population, who produce most of the fighter-jocks for the Britannican Air Force. Their team is the Foxchester Raiders, originally the best Football Team with the most representatives on the National Team, but soon stripped of that title by the Rovers of Tuncastle.

  • Hernsworth

The Hernsworth Cubs are perennially one of the worst teams in all of Starblaydia and Nova Britannicus, and Hernsworth itself is generally regarded as the runt of the six Britannican city-states.

  • Montepool

The Montepool Waves football team reflects the state of the city, being on the coastline has meant that the people of Montepool have grown up with the sea. Montepool's Navy is second-to-none in Nova Britannicus' military reckoning, providing the ships that carry the fight for N.B.

  • Tuncastle

The most populous of the Cities has given rise to the best Britannican football team, the Tuncastle Rovers. With such a surplus of people, the infantry regiments of Tuncastle are large and unweildy. It is also home to the Nova Britannicus Football Association.

  • Widdrington
Home to the largest Race Track in N.B., along with the most car manufacturers, Widdrington is the ironworks of N.B.; it provides the armoured tank backbone to the Britannican forces and is famous for a big and strong population. The Widdrington Wolves football team, however, aren't such powerhouses in the Starblaydi League.
