One of the newer members of the infamous raider region The Blades of Conquest, the huge, barren, and devout Empire of Nova Doomia stands as a monument to the deadly combination of intellect and brute force. Ruled by a brilliant, if not neurotic, emperor, it is a political and military threat to all enemies that challenge it.
Population
Consists of mostly Nova Doomians, Americans, Chinese, Russians, Japanese, and Filipinos, with other foreign gypsies wandering about. There are barcodes on 95% of the population, which is constantly under the omnipresent eye of the notorious Imperial Police who need no warrants to arrest or seach. Criminals are rounded up in black vans and driven to the capital city for "reeducation", then either released or sent to one of the many privately-owned prisons across the nation to work as slaves. Loudspeakers erected across the land proclaim "You are happy people", effectively brainwashing the population.
Society has been arranged in a feudal system, with multimillion-dollar company CEOs owning acres of land chock-full of serfs. Marriages cannot be arranged or be of the same sex. Liberals are frowned upon and hippies are frequently sent to the reeducation centers.
Government
The Empire of Nova Doomia is aptly named so for its lack of political rights under its emperor, Dalzyio Redavilla VII, and the rest of its High Council. It is said that the emperor's character tends to be lazy and disorganized, leading to occasional corruptions in the "System" and giving Council members more power than the Emperor. Somehow the corruption is so deep, that despite the imbalances of power, the Emperor manages to maintain his throne. Four Administrator-Generals preside over the north, east, south, and west, but the Emperor remains the ultimate authority over the nation. As for lawmaking, the Parliament can only suggest laws and answers to the Emperor, not create and execute them on their own.
Among the powerful, it is a well-known fact that the government frequently calls upon various international crime/mercenary organizations to do its dirty work. Torture is sometimes used for intelligence interrogations.
